Freedom Solar Power is looking for a Commercial Installer Crew Lead to join our growing Commercial team. In this role, the Crew Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of installers who are responsible for installing solar systems from 10kW – to 1MW for commercial projects nationwide. This advanced installer position requires the ideal candidate to have strong communication and organizational skills. The Crew Lead will travel for work projects 90% of the year and must be a safety-minded leader motivated by meeting project goals.
Job Duties:
- Provide leadership to the crew, by implementing the mission, goals, and values of Freedom Solar Power.
- Plan, coordinate, and organize people, equipment, tools, and materials to promote the safe, efficient and timely construction of the project.
- Ensure that construction equipment is correctly operated and maintained.
- Maintain accurate reporting records including job quantities, productivity rates, timesheets, photos, and daily management reports.
- May assist in developing a weekly schedule and in carrying out a sequence of activities for the assigned crew.
- Responsible for the timely completion of work assignments within the estimated costs while maintaining the company’s reputation for quality workmanship and safety procedure.
- Responsible for the safety of those on the crew and will conduct all operations according to all applicable company and government safety regulations.
- Will develop and maintain a proper crew attitude by assisting in toolbox meetings and communicating safety concerns, work scope, plans, and schedules to the crew.
- Monitor compliance by all employees under his/her supervision, assist in training installation levels II and III technicians and inspire personnel growth, safety, quality, and attitude in accordance with all FSP policies.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have 3+ years of experience in commercial solar installations.
- 3+ years of prior crew lead experience is strongly preferred.
- A valid Driver’s License is required to drive company vehicles.
- Prior Electrical Experience and license preferred.
- MUST be willing to travel 90% of the year.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of electrical codes
- Knowledge of commercial PV design and components
- Knowledge of basic trades: roofing, carpentry, plumbing, and metal framing
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring schematics, and electrical instructions
- Ability to make field changes and communicate with the Construction Manager
- Ability to receive and distribute instructions
- Ability to communicate problems to the Construction Manager.
- Ability to drive a truck and trailer safely
- Ability to operate heavy equipment: skid-steer, forklift, reach boom, scissor lift, articulating boom lift, and Skytrax.
- Ability to fly a DJI Phantom drone safely
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to withstand heights, be on roofs, and climb ladders
- Ability to lift 50-75+ lbs routinely
- Ability to bend, stretch, squat, and lift
- Ability to work in 30-100+ degree weather, as well as in wet and dry conditions
