GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Communications Associate develops and curates content for member, provider, and community communications in support of organizational objectives, and in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory requirements, SCFHP policies and procedures, and business requirements. The Communications Associate plans, implements, and monitors SCFHP’s social media strategy in order to build brand awareness and engage our community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below satisfactorily.
- Develop and curate accurate, professional content to use across all communications channels as required by state and federal regulations; for other materials, create original content that communicates clearly, concisely, and persuasively, while meeting all regulatory requirements.
- Create and manage the review of monthly content calendars and annual editorial calendar for the SCFHP and Community Resource Center (“CRC”) social media channels (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Develop, implement, and monitor workflow for content review within Marketing team.
- Ensure all member material is culturally appropriate and written at a 6th grade reading level. Assist with review of translations.
- Develop and post content for and maintain social media channels.
- Develop organic Search Engine Optimization (“SEO”) plan in collaboration with marketing peers to support plan objectives and enrollment.
- Work with Communications Project Manager to develop successful email marketing campaigns.
- Track and report Social Media Metrics and Google Analytics for SCFHP website.
- Work with cross functional teams (Health Education/Quality Improvement, Marketing, Community Engagement, Human Resources) on projects to create content, graphic elements, and a social media engagement plan to promote on our pages.
- Manage and organize the Photo Library, and attend events to capture photos and video clips to use for Marketing purposes. Perform light photo and video editing as needed.
- Work with all departments to plan, create, and publish content for use across all communication channels for all external audiences.
- Develop and manage a network of internal content creators throughout the organization (e.g., Quality Improvement, Customer Service, Provider Network Management, and Health Services).
- Attend and actively participate in department meetings, trainings, and coaching sessions.
- Identify issues, trends, and opportunities to improve efficiency and/or quality, or to better collaborate with departments; develop recommendations and implement same relative to identified issues, trends, and opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience, training or coursework. (R)
- Minimum of three years of experience in writing and editing communications for a variety of audiences, and in developing and implementing communications strategies. (R)
- Minimum of two years’ experience with Social Media planning and management, including use of Facebook Insights. (R)
- Minimum of two years’ experience with email marketing platforms such as MailChimp, and website content management systems such as SiteAssist (R)
- Minimum one-year experience with photography/video editing. (R)
- Experience using Hootsuite. (D)
- Project management experience. (D)
- Exceptional written communication skills, including copywriting and editing. (R)
- Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships to organize and lead cross-functional initiatives. (R)
- Ability to comprehend complex concepts and translate them into clear, accurate and easy-to-understand language. (R)
- Adept at absorbing new information and using it to identify opportunities to improve written communications. (R)
- Ability to research various topics and interview experts with a high attention to detail. (R)
- Proficient in adapting to changing situations and efficiently alternating focus between multiple projects as dictated by business needs. (R)
- Strong computer skills, including fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat; (R)
- Experience writing and managing complex documents, including use of styles, bookmarks, and other document setup/management tools; and use of the Web for research. (R)
- Ability to think creatively and strategically. (R)
- Knowledge of healthcare, Medi-Cal managed care, and Medicare. (D)
- Ability to think and work effectively under pressure, and accurately prioritize and complete tasks within established timeframes. (R)
- Self-directed, ability to take initiative, assume responsibility, work independently, and exercise good judgment when making decisions within the scope of the position. (R)

- Maintenance of a valid California’s driver’s license and acceptable driving record, in order to drive to and from offsite meetings or events; or ability to use other means of transportation to attend offsite meetings or events. (R)
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed based on business and regulatory requirements. (R)
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment while sitting or standing at a desk. Incumbents are subject to regular contact with co-workers, managers, external partners, and vendors, in person, by telephone, and via work-related electronic communications.

Grade 14: $76,598 - $95,747 - $114,897
The expected pay range is based on many factors, such as experience, education, and the market. The range is subject to change.
