Position Summary:

Provides program management for the development, implementation, delivery and tracking of a wide variety of Community Benefits Health Improvement programs anchored within the Community Relations Department. Serves as a liaison to the community, local non-profit organizations, UMass Memorial departments, and UMass Memorial Health Care system hospitals to comply with community benefits programming and reporting requirements as set forth by the Massachusetts Attorney General office and the IRS.

Major Responsibilities:

Provides support for the expansion of the UMMMC Community Benefits agenda – involving work on program development, training programs, and participation in community coalition groups.

Community Health Improvement/Chronic Disease Prevention:

Works closely with the Vice President of Community Relations in program development and implementation of community-based interventions and coalition building activities targeted at addressing priorities identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHA) and the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

Promote Awareness of Community Benefits Programs

Manages the overall Community Benefits federal and state reporting requirements (Schedule H Form 990 IRS submission and Massachusetts Attorney General Report):

Works closely with system hospital’s staff to ensure timely and accurate completion, and filing of Community Benefits reporting obligations (IRS and Massachusetts AG). Provides technical assistance and tracking of Community Benefits reporting responsibilities to system hospitals staff to meet Federal IRS and MA AGO reporting requirements.

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or related field and a minimum of 7 years experience in a Community Relations role. Knowledge of community health improvement practices required. Demonstrates leadership experience. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Demonstrated experience and skill in communicating with individuals amongst diverse populations and backgrounds. Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills are essential. Demonstrated ability to use computer-based tools including word processing and software applications. Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects, and work in a team environment required.
