Description:

The Compliance Officer is responsible for operational support duties of the Compliance Department. This position assists in originating, implementing, and maintaining the Bank's compliance programs to ensure conformity and adherence with all applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to Financial Institution Compliance. The Compliance Officer will communicate with all levels including front line Associates to Management and Senior leadership, as needed. This position will require collaboration with fellow Compliance and Risk Associates as well as other business lines to ensure that WSFS BANK is compliant with all applicable regulations and laws while still standing by our mission of We Stand for Service.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a proficient knowledge of all applicable banking laws, rules, and regulations
  • Create Monitoring and Testing (M&T) Plans and perform M&T reviews of various deposit and lending regulations
  • Assist Management with M&T Statuses as well as other progress made each quarter that will be presented to various Committees and updates to Regulatory Agencies.
  • Assists in performing and/or acting as liaison to Third Party Vendor engaged to complete Compliance M&T Reviews of various regulations.
  • Utilize regulatory exam manuals, if applicable, and other resources available to create the proper scope and test plan for quality assurance reviews.
  • Learn WSFS Bank’s process/procedures for various lines of businesses that are applicable to the quality assurance review being performed
  • Document findings noted in the reviews concisely, according to the review, in a way that Management, Audit, and Examiners can easily discern the issue
  • Work effectively with compliance and line of business partners, as needed, to adequately perform the reviews.
  • Assist Management in following up with various lines of businesses, if needed, on issue resolution
  • As reviews are performed, keep in mind ways for efficiencies and improvements that can be made to review processes and raise any recommendations to Management as needed
  • Assists in conducting various risk assessments and policy review as directed.
  • Provides support to various business lines in the form of providing regulatory guidance when requested.
  • Participates in various project teams as the compliance liaison.
  • Assist Management with Fair Lending Data Analytics, if warranted
  • Assist Management with Customer Complaints, if warranted
  • Assist Management with Regulation Change Management, if warranted
  • Assist Management with any items related to Privacy program, if warranted
  • Participate in Financial Industry Groups, as needed, to keep abreast of updates and/or hot topics of regulatory concerns within the industry.
  • Assists Management with Audits and Examinations, as needed
  • Complete annual training assigned, that would be applicable to the role, and participate in any other training opportunities, as assigned, that may arise for opportunity to learn and grow

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or relevant work-related experience.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience consisting of an in-depth background in financial institution operations, security, compliance, or legal areas involving banking laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Professional accreditation such as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP) is preferred.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent listening ability and presentation skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of Financial Institution compliance regulations, such as the Reg E, Reg DD, FDPA, HMDA, RESPA, Reg B and Reg Z, etc.
  • Must have experience with performing Monitoring and Testing Reviews
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, provide direction, write correspondence and procedures, and speak clearly to Associates, Auditors and Regulators.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external partners as needed to effectively address issues and obstacles.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret and use data to critically review, assess, and support the department and business lines.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to plan, initiate, multitask and lead multiple projects to meet goals, objectives, and deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to change with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain strong and thorough understanding Financial Institution compliance regulations and industry related guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Comfortable making independent judgements that have significant impact on Associates, business lines and/or the organization.
  • Strong technical aptitude including familiarity with systems and the ability to quickly learn and utilize systems efficiently.
