We are looking for an experienced, well organized, and highly skilled Compliance Specialist to help blossom our cultivation efforts. This role is for self-starters, and those who are not fazed by a large challenge in front of them. Previous compliance experience, knowledge of cannabis cultivation and the industry at large, familiarity with Arizona’s rules and regulations for marijuana, and a strong work ethic are required. Experience with large scale (50,000 square feet and more) cultivation operations preferred. Overview
The Compliance Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that our cultivation facility maintains compliance, in good standing, with the AZDHS, and that we are always following the rules set forth for the Medical and Recreational Marijuana industries here in Arizona. Ensuring plants are tracked from seed to sale, inventory is logged and accounted for, discrepancies are identified and fixed, and interfacing with state and local authorities will all fall under your purview.
You will be directly responsible for ensuring compliance with Arizona cannabis regulations, policies, and procedures, reviewing, and supporting standard operating procedures (SOPs), and assisting with employee training in our production facilities. Day to day you will be assisting various internal departments in reporting all cannabis activity into our seed to sale software, LeafLogix, that pertains to the intake, processing, packaging, labeling, and waste of cannabis and cannabis products. You will assist fulfillment with routine audits of inventory quantities and compares the results with our internal system and investigates and correct any discrepancies. The Compliance Specialist should act as a LeafLogix Subject Matter Expert and provide guidance and training and development to internal counterparts. Additionally, you will maintain thorough and up to date knowledge of state cannabis laws and regulations.
To best succeed the Compliance Specialist should have an extraordinary attention to detail. They must be willing to dig into the minutiae of the operation, and are masters at scanning, analyzing, and processing large quantities of data to get the piece they are looking for. The Compliance Specialist will be proactive, outspoken, and has the upmost integrity. Nothing can slide or get loose, and it will be your job to ensure that the law, both in house and state, are strictly adhered to. You are, by nature, an excellent communicator and teacher (both verbal and written), who shines when able to teach people how, and why, to do things a certain way. Patience is key in this role, as is persistence.
Personnel Duties & Responsibilities
- The role requires you to provide strong office and compliance oversight to our cultivation team to ensure orders are properly processed without errors and reported into LeafLogix
· Oversee and manage CAPAs (Corrective and Preventative Actions) for compliance incidents and work with operational teams to correct and document non-conformance
- Coordinate the manifesting of finished product from our cultivation facility to our distribution warehouse
- Manage and maintain an accurate record of daily cultivation and product transfer processes in LeafLogix
- Interface with compliance and financial counterparts in the corporate office, specifically our Head of Compliance, on a weekly schedule
- Perform data entry with high attention to detail and accuracy, and support the operations and technical teams on site
- Work with the different cultivation department managers to ensure plants are properly tagged and accounted for, as well as to coordinate different aspects of mandated state compliance (lab testing, plant tagging, etc.)
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with internal standards and requirements
- Lead inspections and complete corrective action plans
- Interface with state regulators and inspectors, and make sure the facility is always in compliance with the AZDHS
- Teach, coach, and present updated compliance regulation or changes (when applicable) to the rest of the facility to ensure the operation remains compliant and on track
- Strong understanding of AZDHS Rules and Regulations as it relates to the Medical and Recreational Marijuana Programs
- Must be able to independently implement, write, and produce batch records of all kinds within or above regulation standards
· Using a Compliance Audit checklist, perform periodic reviews of procedures, forms, logs, etc.
- General knowledge of workplace health and safety standards – in particular, OSHA
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally at all levels of the organization as well as with state regulators, vendors, and outside stakeholders
In addition to the above general, and expanded, job descriptions, this position might include other possible work depending on the needs of the facility, considering the current workload. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum of 21 years of age, must possess a valid drives license or state ID card, and is authorized to work in the U.S. Must have a minimum one to three years’ experience in a cannabis compliance role, and have extensive knowledge of different track and trace software. Experience with LeafLogix a major plus.
In addition to the above requirements, one must be able to:
- Sit or stand while performing repetitive motions for long periods of time
- Work at a fast pace for prolonged periods, with high, sustained energy
- Be able to lift at least 45 pounds
- Work in hot, sunny, environments for long periods of time
- Pass state mandated (ADHS) background check
Compensation
This position starts at $18/hour, depending on experience. In addition to the above, our company provides the option for dental, medical, and vision health insurance, as well as life insurance.
