Congressional Affairs Analyst - Navy Undersea Weapons and Warfare Systems Job at Synchron, LLC
Synchron, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Congressional Affairs Analyst to support U.S. Navy’s Team Submarine program offices at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC! We are seeking a candidate to support the Team Submarine Director of Strategic Communications for all coordination and communications with Congress. You will provide direct support in the areas of Congressional Affairs, Strategic Communications and Public Affairs.
Responsibilities:
- Track congressional taskers that affect Team Submarine, ensuring they are written in a clear, concise manner and chopped by the appropriate program offices before providing to the front office for review.
- Develop and edit written materials (PowerPoints, speeches, letters, etc) intended for dissemination to the Congress or general public.
- Review and analyze congressional reports, hearings and legislation to provide updates, synopsis and impacts to Team Submarine
- Assist in the development of the communication strategy, key messages, and briefing materials for Navy senior leaders for the purpose of making critical decisions on Navy’s investment strategy that support Navy’s designated missions and war fighting capability.
Education and Experience:
- 5-10 years work experience, including at least two years working experience working in DoN/DoD or on or with Capitol Hill
- Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate additional experience
- General understanding of Congressional operations and functions
- Demonstrated organizational skills, multi-tasking ability, and attention to detail
- Strong Communications skills:
- Writing skills – clear, concise emails and memorandums
- Verbal – ability to represent the team with senior executives and Team Submarine Subject Matter Experts
- Ability to obtain a Secret DoD Clearance is required
Work Location: Vicinity of Washington Navy Yard. Telework options for 1-2 days per week.
Travel: less than 5%
