Job Summary: The Consultant is the expert for Vertical Transportation for our clients and provides insightful solutions to meet the clients’ needs. The Consultant is responsible for developing relationships with potential clients and managing the project cycle from request for proposal or inspection, writing of reports and proposals, ensuring timely completion of projects, to billing for payment of services. Maintains expert level industry knowledge through research and writing. Works collaboratively with other Consultants and support services to ensure the best experience for our clients.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed in this position. They are not intended to prescribe or restrict the assignments that may be made by management.


  • Generates customer pipeline by marketing LB services for all given lines of business in the service area. This may include but is not limited to: exhibiting at regional conferences, conducting client lunch and learns, visiting potential and current client locations and writing industry-specific blogs and articles.
  • Participates in all aspects of project development, including but not limited to: bid and contract development, conceptual planning, design, construction administration, maintenance audits, and modernization projects for vertical transportation systems.
  • Provides scheduled and requested reports to business support functions and leadership as requested, including but not limited to: equipment and systems status, percentage of work completed, billing percentages, contract additions, change orders and deficiencies lists.


Education/Training, Experience & Skills:


  • Strong understanding of project management requirements in the elevator industry
  • Experience in modernization is a plus
  • Must be driven to provide an outstanding customer experience
  • Ability to build a network of current and potential clients
  • Strong technical writing and report development skills
  • Strong knowledge of the industry, including expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas: elevators, escalators, moving walkways, mid- and/or high-rise building design, specifications and analysis or other vertical transportation equipment
  • Knowledge and adherence to applicable industry ASME codes, standards and safety rules
  • Highly organized and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of Consultants and Designers, build partnerships and direct teams.
  • Ability to travel regionally on a regular basis
  • Intermediate or better proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Acrobat and PowerPoint, CAD/Drawing review software, CAD deliverables, Project Time Recording System
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field is preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities
  • At least 5 years elevator industry experience; 10+ years preferred
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations frequently used in our industry
  • QEI Certification preferred
  • Secondary educational degree strongly preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in using Microsoft Office products and other software systems preferred
