Pay Rate: Negotiable

Available Shifts:
16 hours minimum per week, with potential for hours to increase as enrollments increase for this new service

Job Description:
The Contract Psychiatrist position is responsible for providing consultation and overall clinical and medical direction to outpatient clinics. Responsible for monitoring and assessing the psychiatric needs of clients of the outpatient clinic. Review, approve and sign client treatment plans. Provide timely and comprehensive evaluations, re-evaluations and documentation of clinical activities. Complete monthly medication reviews for clients of the program.
Qualifications:
- M.D. /D.O. degree from accredited school of medicine or osteopathy in the U.S.; or valid M.D. degree from a foreign school of medicine and have passed the ECFMG exam and 3 years related experience.
- Completed an internship from an accredited graduate medical education program recognized by the AMA or AOA.
- Completed a psychiatric residency in an accredited residency program and will be board certified.
- Valid and current DEA certificate and will be currently enrolled in a good standing in the PA Medical Assistance Program.
- Possess a minimum professional liability coverage of $1,000,000/occurrence and $3,000,000/aggregate.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluate and monitor the medication of consumers assigned to his/her care.
- Review and sign treatment plans for the outpatient clinic.
- Provide assistance when appropriate in the psychiatric hospitalization of residents, including facilitating the 302 process.
- Prescribe for urine toxicology as appropriate.
- Act as referral agent for medical consultations.
- Assist in the interpretation of evaluation materials and test results.
- Assure back-up psychiatric coverage.
- Consultation to Case Managers and other pertinent staff.
- Attend specific meetings, as assigned and/or agreed upon.
- Provide timely and comprehensive documentation of clinical activities in accordance with agency policies.
- Respond appropriately and promptly to emergency situations.
- Perform job within framework of agency, site and professional standards.
- Adhere to agency/site policies and procedures.
- Project a positive attitude and image to clients, family members and outside contacts.
- Use appropriate communication channels.
- Participate in achievement of agency goals and mission.
- Display motivation and interest in working creatively with people who have disabilities and problem sexual behaviors.
- Demonstrate the ability to make sound judgements regarding the welfare of clients.
- Display ability to take direction and adhere to management requests.
- Possess knowledge of basic principles and methods of rehabilitation.
- Follow expected dress code.
- Demonstrate ability to work productively as member of a treatment team.
- Cooperate with other staff and exhibit positive attitude toward position and agency mission.
- Show initiative and demonstrate good judgement.
- Follow instructions accurately and thoroughly while completing assigned tasks within expected time frames.

- Performs job in a safe manner.
- Reports/addresses safety concerns in a timely manner.
