We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Controller!

The Controller manages the AmSurg Accounting team, ensuring general accounting accuracy and timely month-end close.

• Responsible for timely completeness and accuracy of AmSurg’s financial information in accordance with GAAP
• Manages team of accountants responsible for the AmSurg books and records
• Monitors, maintains, and administers cash oversight for Multiple Joint-Venture arrangement
• Establish and maintain an environment, through internal controls, to ensure the ability to efficiently conduct business while safeguarding the assets of the company
• Work with Financial Reporting to help facilitate internal and external financial statements including multiple segments within AmSurg’s external reporting structure.
• Leads special projects, as assigned, and ensures their completion.
• Regular and reliable attendance required.
• Ability to travel from time to time

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

• Be knowledgeable in the requirements of the GAAP
• Certified Public Accountant or commensurate experience
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Minimum five years’ experience overseeing accounting and cash management for multiple joint-venture arrangement with majority and minority ownership positions
• Hands-on experience applying the provisions of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Lead development of process efficiency and improvement opportunities

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 10 years of experience is required. In addition, a minimum of 5-6 years of experience at a big four accounting firm is preferred. Candidate must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages.

Language Skills:

Ability to understand, read, write and speak English. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to successfully write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions and professionally interact with managers, employees, clients, vendors and the general public.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and correct errors. Ability to understand and interpret basic financial data. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of forms and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Other Qualifications:

Possesses leadership skills. Ability to handle projects timely and professional. Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner. Must be able to work well with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented and organized. High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information. Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as approved in advance.
