Sunrise Services, Inc. is seeking a Cook/Caregiver to join our team in our Enhanced Services Facility!

About the Program:

The Cook/Caregiver will be part of the Enhanced Services Facility. This facility provides patients a smooth transition from a hospital setting by providing assisted living and care for those with complex behavioral challenges. The main goal of this program is to help individuals participate and stabilize in their community.

Shift: Saturday & Sunday 7 a.m. - 3p.m. with the opportunity to take on floating caregiver shifts.

General Responsibilities:

• Prepares and serve meals that are appetizing in both taste and appearance, and appropriate for each resident.
• Follows standardized recipes to prepare hot meals; use knowledge of dietary restrictions to make modifications as necessary.

• Must be knowledgeable of ordered diets, client plans and resident dietary needs, food restrictions as well as food consistency as well as swallow issues.

• Must be able to serve meals and snacks in a timely manner in accordance to resident’s preferences.
• Must be able to ensure food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.

• Encourage practices and activities that contribute to good health
• Cue, encourage and coach residents to be aware of and practice basic nutrition.
• Cue and/or assist with meal preparation that reflects healthy choices, while respecting the resident’s rights.
• Cue residents as needed to recognize the need for and appropriate use of health services.
• Report injuries, illnesses, medical and / or mental health symptoms
• Provide support as needed/directed during illness/recovery
• Provide first aid as needed.
• Encourage medication compliance.
• Encourage residents to seek mental health services when needed.
• Provide training as needed regarding personal safety and emergencies, to include fire evacuation procedures, accessing emergency services and personal safety skills.
• Cue and/or assist residents with personal care and household maintenance as needed. This may include cueing and / or assisting with bathing, toileting, transfers, laundry, housekeeping, meals, etc.

• Support clients in choices related to nutrition.
• Provide information about and the opportunity to exercise rights and responsibilities.
• Provide information about protection and advocacy services, both within the agency and in the community as needed.

• Foster positive self-esteem and a sense of self-worth.
• Foster opportunities to choose valued social roles

Education, Experience, Skills & Abilities:

• Must have High school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years of age.
• First aid and CPR certification is required.
• DSHS background clearance required
• Home Care Aid Certification or Certified Nursing Assistant Certification and various other educational classes are required following hiring and at different intervals during employment. This includes current license with the state of Washington.
• Prefer at least one year of experience working with people with mental / behavioral health / chemical dependency / criminal justice system issues / or experience working in similar industries.

Compensation:

• $17.90 - $20.45/hour
• Wages are determined by applicable industry experience, education, and certifications/licensure.
