Position Summary

At Wesley Woods our Cook is responsible for the preparation and serving of meals for residents of long- term care or assisted living communities under the direct supervision of the Fine Dining Manager or appointed designee in compliance with recipes and diets as assigned. The cook is required to take a lead role in food preparation services.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and serving the residents in our community accordance with Food Service department’s standard procedure production directions.
• Collecting supplies and/or ingredients; preparing food items according to standard recipes
• Cooking food items in appropriate equipment and at established temperatures
• Ensuring compliance with all record keeping food safety and risk management requirements
• Following all sanitation standards and performing special preparation tasks as assigned
• Serving meals according to menus and daily plan meal distribution; coordinating menus, special functions, receptions and catering services.
• Ensuring oversight for proper cleaning and maintenance of assigned areas in accordance with Wesley Woods operational standards.
• Will provide professional interactions with all food service employees and comply with job related behavior as outlined in policies and procedures of Wesley Woods Senior Living.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Maintains a current ServSafe certificate (food services sanitation certificate).
• A high school diploma or equivalent accepted
• Three (3) years of related experience including food preparation, and full-line menu items
• To be successful you will need to have the ability to handle multiple priorities, possess written and verbal skills for effective communication, be competent in organizational, time management skills and demonstrate good judgement, problem solving and decision making
• Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop and twist
• You will also need to demonstrate your ability to serve seniors in a team environment.
