Coordinator, Family Voice Job at JCCA

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Program and Practice Development and collaborating closely with the Assistant Director of Youth and Family Voice, the Coordinator of Family Voice coordinates operational activities designed to elevate and integrate parent voice into program policies, services delivery, practice, staff training/onboarding, and operations across the agency.

Essential Generic Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with Assistant Director of Youth and Family Voice to plan, convene, and facilitate a range of parent engagement events across the agency.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to create, develop, and manage ongoing Parent Advisory Council(s) across all agency programs/divisions to inform policies, procedures, and practice.
  • Partner with CDQ to develop and disseminate client survey instruments (preferably using a participatory action approach) to elicit information from parents related to satisfaction, service needs, and related programming.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure that parent voices are reflected in the development of JCCA’s mission statement and values as well as policies and procedures across programs
  • Identify and develop practice models to more fully engage parents in services.
  • Train staff (leveraging parent participants) and provide consultation related to promising practices to better engage and empower parents in service delivery.
  • Participate in oversight agency workgroups pertaining to parent advocacy and family engagement.
  • Participate and coordinate parent participation in oversight agency (e.g. ACS, OCFS, OMH) parent advisory groups and relevant committees.
  • Participate in agency-wide committees (e.g. Race Equity; Advocacy Champions, etc.) as needed to bridge practice related to BIPOC and other JCCA clients.
  • Work in partnership with Government Contracts to develop and build parent involvement in advocating for change on the local and national level.
  • Develop partnerships with external organizations (e.g. RISE) to execute and develop promising youth and family voice practices at JCCA.
  • Partner with Assistant Director of Youth and Family Voice to develop and implement programming to increase engagement of fathers and paternal kin.
  • Partner with program leadership to create parent orientation material and protocols.
  • Represent agency at city, state, and national meetings.
  • Develop curriculum for, and co-lead, parent support groups, as needed.
  • Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Basic computer and writing skills
  • Lived experience and knowledge of foster care and family court proceedings
  • Solid organizational and follow up skills
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and work with a variety of different people
  • Must be willing to provide three letters of reference attesting to proficiency and suitability for the role.
