With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

APPROX SCHEDULE:

Variable / flexible schedule – 20 hours per week for 15 weeks each semester. Must be available for evening and weekend rehearsals and performances.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and the administration of the Young People's Theatre Program under the Lifelong Learning programs. This position supervises part time staff and student volunteers, monitors the facility and provides an on-going point of contact for parents, community partners and internal College personnel.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Plan and implement yearly season of age-appropriate productions for varied age groups.
  • Train and supervise staff including both paid staff and volunteers.
  • Supply information to Program Coordinator and marketing for use in preparing brochures, course planning, and performance publicity.
  • Provide information regarding course planning, marketing, budgeting, as requested by the Director of Lifelong Learning.
  • Supervise program operating budget, monitoring expenses, and revenue.
  • Request materials and supplies needed for the program and maintain a current inventory of materials/supplies, and equipment.
  • Monitor and coordinate use of assigned facilities and adjoining spaces. Provide on-site supervision during all rehearsals, work calls, and performances.
  • Provide program information to parents in the form of social media accounts, phone, and email communication, and performance programs.
  • Monitor, supervise, and oversee the Young People's Theatre Program to include parent contacts, student learning and behavior, and problem solving.

OTHER RELATED DUTIES:

  • Adhere to all College Policies and Procedures.
  • Handle other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Associate's Degree (preferred) or equivalent training and experience
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working with children in theatre or related performance area.
  • Skills/Training: Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently, plan and manage children's programs including budget management. Strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledgeable of child and adolescent development.
  • Proficiencies: Proficient in basic computer skills - word processing, internet, and spreadsheet.
  • Physical Demands: Some lifting and carrying of materials required.
  • Other Requirements: Finger printing/criminal background check, and current first aid/CPR certification.
