IMMEDIATE OPENINGS FOR CAREER MINDED INDIVIDUALS - DEPUTY JAILERS.
Deputy Jailers are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment to maintain and lodge all inmates remanded to this detention center. Persons serving in this capacity must be capable of making sound, independent and immediate life or death decisions as they are warranted. Deputy Jailers must be physically capable of defending themselves (Training provided), fellow employees, inmates, and the community at large; at all times. Deputy Jailers serve as Sworn Peace Officers of the Commonwealth of Kentucky within/for Boyle County Kentucky, with all of the rights, privileges, and duties assigned by law.
Experience preferred, but will provide training for the right individuals. Previous Corrections/ Law Enforcement/ Veterans are a PLUS! **STARTING PAY RATE = $15.00/HR and increases to $18.00/HR on JUNE 02, 2023!! Plus additional 5% increase after completing a six (6) month probationary period! This position is non-exempt and is eligible for Overtime!
APPLICANTS MUST (Please read):
- 1. Pass intensive background check and drug screening.
- 2. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
- 3. Have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- 4. Be available to work Day (0650-1900hrs) shift and/or Night (1850-0700hrs) shift. *Shift assignments will be assigned after the completion of recruit training and will be dependent upon the needs of the facility at that time.
- 5. Have a clean driving record (No loss/suspension of license within last 5 years and no excessive driving violations)
- 6. Have a valid KENTUCKY driver's license.
- 7. Have a strong work ethic.
- 8. Have a solid work history of job retention.
- 9. Have an excellent attendance record with previous employers.
- 10.Have a clean criminal record with no Felony convictions, violent misdemeanors (including ANY assault charges) or numerous misdemeanors.
- 11. Meet the qualifications to become a Sworn Peace Officer.
- 12. Be legally allowed to carry/possess a firearm (CCW NOT required, Firearms training is provided)
- 13. Be physically able to perform the duties of a Deputy Jailer.

We have a GREAT work schedule (Pittman Shift). Example of a two week pay period: Week 1- Work Fri, OFF Sat- Sun- Mon, Work Tue- Wed, OFF Thu. Week 2- OFF Fri, Work Sat-Sun-Mon, OFF Tue-Wed, Work Thurs. Basically, you will be scheduled to work 3 days one week and 4 days the next. Depending on the month, you are only scheduled to work 14-16 days/month! Because these are 12 hour shifts, you will have 8 hours of OT (1.5 x hourly rate) built in to each pay period (Your 4 day week= 48 hrs)!

- Deputy Jailers must be at least 21 years of age. Are you at least 21 years of age or older?
- Have you ever been employed at Boyle County Detention Center or with Boyle Fiscal Court? If YES, please list your starting and ending dates of your employment as well as your last position held. Did you leave voluntarily or was your employment terminated? Please explain the circumstances surrounding your reason for separation.
- Deputy Jailers must be physically capable of performing the duties of a Deputy Jailer. Such duties include, but are not limited to, standing for 12 hour shifts, bending, lifting, day and night time driving an extended full size van in city, highways and interstate roads, as well as physically defending themselves (training provided), fellow employees, inmates and the community at large. Are you physically capable of performing the duties listed above?
- Deputy Jailers can not have any felony convictions. Do you have any felony convictions or are you under the indictment of a felony charge(s)? If YES, list date(s), location(s), charges(s) and disposition of case(s). If you have never been convicted of a felony, please answer "NO"
- Deputy Jailers must have a minimum of a GED or have graduated from an accredited High School. Do you have a minimum of a GED or a High School Diploma? Please list GED or High school Diploma and YEAR GRADUATED.
- Have you ever been investigated for, or a suspect in, a PREA violation, sexual harassment or sexual misconduct in a Law Enforcement , Correctional, Probation/Parole, Pre-trial or other position? If YES, please list date(s), location, charge(s) and disposition of case. If no, please reply NO.
- All questions MUST be answered, IN FULL. If your answer to any of the above questions asked for details, YOU MUST explain in detail. Failure to answer EACH question truthfully, accurate and COMPLETELY may result in your application being rejected. DO YOU AFFIRM THAT THE ANSWERS THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN ARE TRUTHFUL, ACCURATE AND COMPLETE?
- Deputy Jailers can not have any serious, violent or numerous misdemeanor convictions (Such as ANY assault convictions for example). In addition, Deputy Jailers may not have numerous misdemeanor convictions. Have you EVER been convicted of a misdemeanor charge or are you currently under the indictment of a misdemeanor charge(s)? IF YES, please list each charge, date convicted or next court date, location of the charge and disposition. If you have never been convicted of a misdemeanor, please answer " NO"
- Has your driving privilege/license EVER been revoked or suspended? IF YES, please list reason, date of revoke/suspension and date license was reinstated. If you have never had your driver's license suspended, respond with "NO" In addition to either yes or no, please list your VALID KENTUCKY DRIVER'S LICENSE NUMBER.
- BCDC works 12 hour shifts. There are two shifts: Day shifts works 06:50am-7:00pm and Night shifts work 06:50pm-7:00am. Shift assignments will be determined on the need of the facility at the time a recruit completes basic training. ALL APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THE SHIFT THAT THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO (DAY OR NIGHT). Are you able to work the shift you are assigned to , regardless if it is Day or Night shift?
