SUMMARY
A Reimbursement Specialist works with patients to navigate various methods of paying medical bills associated with services provided by CVP
Physicians. They are the liaison between patients, their insurance companies, and alternate funding sources; often coordinating payments and
answering questions from all parties. Their job is to help settle financial obligations so that patients and physicians can focus on healthcare.
Demonstrates quality patient service during interactions with patients, coworkers, and vendors:
- Exhibits a positive attitude and is flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities
- Meets attendance and tardiness expectations
- Is dependable; follows policies and procedures
- Maintains professionalism in interactions with patients and coworkers
- Performs quality work and consistently exhibits initiative
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicates with patients and insurance companies
- Obtains pre-surgical estimates for patients
- Communicates with Surgical Coordinator regarding patient financial responsibility for surgeries
- Collects patient balances
- Appropriately documents and reports payment information
- Educates patients about payment options
- Negotiates and strategizes patient payment options
- Refers patients to Financial Counselors for assistance with paying balances
- Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Clinical or Operations experience adequate to determine the need for pre-surgical estimates and patient financial services
- 1-3 years of experience in a medical/clinical office or Ambulatory Surgery Center
Equipment: The equipment typically used in this position is a computer, fax, copier, printer, scanner and telephone. Must have good working
knowledge of Word, Excel and Access. Other equipment may be used as needed. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) follows standard
precautions using personal protective equipment.
