Location: Wrightsville, GA – Johnson State Prison
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours
Pay rate: $33,400 (Non-certified), $44,400 (Certified)
Highly qualified Substance Abuse Counselor to provide counseling services to offenders in the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) Program in Wrightsville, GA at the Johnson State Prison. This position also works closely with Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) staff to coordinate all program services and provide information for case management/records management.
The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for:
- Orienting and assessing assigned offenders. Reviewing offender record and completing initial needs assessment within established time frame.
- Formulating individual treatment plans within established timeframes with input from offender and the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Facilitating psycho-educational and process group sessions as defined by curriculum.
- Monitoring the therapeutic environment and assures inmate compliance with all RSAT Program and GDC rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Previous substance abuse counseling or corrections experience highly preferred.
- Must attain Certified Drug & Alcohol Counselor from GACA, NAADAC, or IC/RC within 2 years of hire.
- Must provide proof of COVID vaccination or, as an alternative, appropriate documentation that will support either a medical or religious exemption.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LPC, LAPC, LMFT, LCSW, or Certified Drug & Alcohol Counselor Certification from GACA, NAADAC and or ICRC.
- Correctional experience.
