The Organization
Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a network of charter schools serving students across the PK-Post Secondary continuum in the Greater MacArthur Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Pueblo Nuevo Education Development Group (PNEDG) is CNCA’s resource development and capacity building arm. PNEDG invests in young people to foster personal transformation and generational social change. PNEDG staff support and build capacity for CNCA schools in achieving their vision. The organizations are grounded in the beliefs that public education is a civil right and all students deserve an excellent education that will prepare them for success in life. At CNCA/PNEDG, we recognize that lower income and immigrant communities often face institutional and cultural barriers that create impediments to students’ success, and that an excellent education must eliminate these barriers. We integrate a strong focus on progressive, research-based academics with a holistic, place-based approach to serving our students. Since opening its doors in 2001, CNCA has grown to 8 schools and nearly 3,500 students. Our goal is that by 2022, 2,000 CNCA graduates will be equipped with the skills, knowledge, and worldview necessary to be literate, critical thinkers and independent problem solvers. As a result of this success, 90% will have been accepted to, 80% will have attended and 60% will have graduated from a 4-year college within 6 years.

The Opportunity
Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Human Resources, the Credential Analyst is responsible for providing both new and current teachers with information and guidance about credentialing requirements to ensure compliance with State credential program regulations. The credential analyst will audit, review, analyze, evaluate, and process applications for credentials and authorizations. The credential analyst will serve as a resource to provide current information to the human resources department and leadership teams on matters regarding State credentialing requirements. Additionally, this position will assist with the HR Team with day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department.
Strategy and Vision Setting Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the Human Resources Team, contributing expertise on State credentialing requirements to inform the overall vision and strategy of the Human Assets Team (HAT).
- Contribute and support the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the ongoing success of the HAT team.
- Contribute to the development of structures and processes to increase the level of excellence across all CNCA schools, and specifically as they relate to the Human Assets.
- Elevate challenges that arise within functional areas of the HAT team and work with the Director of HR to inform and improve the work and provide exceptional customer service
- Understand and navigate the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context facing urban charter schools and the students they serve
Compliance and Management Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance related to State of California and district credentialing requirements
- Monitors, inputs (data entry), and maintains records of credentials, authorizations and waivers held by all certificated employees within the District via automated record systems
- Processes new certificated staff and other employees requiring credentials, authorizations and/or certificates; Processes credential, authorization, certificate and waiver applications along with necessary supporting documents with the Commission on Teaching Credentialing
- Support staff with meeting credential requirements by end of the school year
- Assist with the completion of LAUSD binders and ESSER Grids
- Assist the HR team on special projects (Payroll Audits, LAUSD Site Visits, Grant information request, EOY etc.)
- Works with current teachers, counselors, and administrators to ensure that credentials and renewals are current and established timelines are being met to maintain compliance
- Serves as a resource to provide information and clarification to interested parties concerning various relevant laws, requirements, and regulations pertaining to certification (California Education Code, Title V, California Commission on Teaching Credentialing, etc.)
- Verify all current employees have appropriate credentials and are authorized for employment
- Support Talent Team with screening candidates to determine eligibility for certificated positions
- Support the Director of Talent Development with identifying and supporting existing classified though the teacher pipeline process as it relates to credentials.
- Collaborate with state agencies, school districts, and universities in all regions to ensure proper placement of candidates
- Compliance reporting: Prepare HR Data for State Reporting (CBEDS, CALPADS, SARC. Etc.)
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree preferred but not required
- At least 2-4 years of professional experience in an urban school setting
- Knowledge of requirements and regulations related to teacher education and the granting of credentials for public school service in the California
- Strong organization skills, initiative, flexibility
- Spanish and English fluency preferred
