Purpose/Introduction
The Finance Department aims to be a trusted partner that adds value by protecting the company’s financial integrity, guiding sound business decisions and offering enriching careers in a collaborative workplace. Finance oversees financial planning and fiscal management for Chevron Phillips Chemical including accounting, financing activities, planning, and tax compliance. The department provides financial information, policy analyses and recommendations that drive sound decision-making.
Chevron Phillips is currently seeking a Credit Analyst to join the Finance organization located at The Woodlands, TX headquarters location. The Credit Analyst is responsible for performing credit reviews and approvals for both new customers and a portfolio of existing customers, using financial statements and other resources, as well as, managing the collections process for key accounts.
This is a unique opportunity to interact with various levels of customers as well as internal stakeholders across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Establishes, maintains, and enforces an appropriate credit limit for each account, managing the need for additional security such as letters of credit and guarantees and managing the collections for a specific portfolio
- Learns and follows each customer's business as well as remains attuned with the various industries in which CPChem is participating
- Works closely with customer's accounts receivable and finance departments, interfaces with various departments within CPChem, including but not limited to Sales, Customer Service, and Legal groups on credit, invoicing, and cash application issues
- Develops and manages payment agreements with customers, as well as engages with and supports in-house or external legal counsel for claims against delinquent accounts
- Processes periodic credit updates to management, monitors credit limits, monitors credit review status, and reports on other key transactional performance metrics
- Handles additional duties assigned by the Credit Manager
Required Qualifications
- Minimum education of bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 1 years related experience
- Knowledge of accounting, and ability to analyze financial statements and reconcile complex accounts
- Strong business analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy are required
- Strong interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate with employees at all organizational levels
- A self-starter to perform position functions with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 years of experience related to Chemical, Oil & Gas, and/or Energy industries
- Experience in commercial credit and collections administration, especially in the chemical industry
- Financial analyst experience, and knowledge of security documents, i.e. Letters of Credit and Guarantees
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as in a group setting
- Demonstrate the ability to apply critical thinking and analysis to assigned tasks
- Experience in the use of SAP (FSCM module a plus) and Microsoft Office applications, with experience with High Radius
- Interest in representing CPChem in various industry trade credit organizations and work groups
- CPA, CFA, CTP, or working towards a certification
- Working knowledge of PowerBI
