The Credit & Collections Specialist reports to the Credit Manager.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Credit and Collections Specialist is responsible for the collection and accounting of funds due to the organization and ensuring that proper accounting procedures are followed to account for the receipt of payment for goods and services completed by the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform effective collections process with assigned portfolio
- Review and release pending orders within account parameter for approval
- Facilitate and assess amendments to/for credit limits and terms consideration for existing customers
- Review New account requests for credit terms exercising wise judgment when making risk assessment within credit authority
- Coordinate work of sales department with production and shipping departments to ensure credit fulfillment of contractual obligations
- Responsible for timely and accurate filings and release of UCCs
- Act as liaison between Sales, Accounting, Credit, Design, & Management for proper adherence to policies and approvals
- Consult with customers to resolve complaints and verify financial and credit transactions through research and effective communication with customer, Sales, and Accounting
- Communicate and appropriately elevate A/R concerns and resolutions through preparation and distribution of A/R aging to Sales staff and Credit Manager
- Involved in all aspects of receivables management for the Company as required
- Ability to work late night til 6:30 pm cst minimum 1 day a week
- Other duties as assigned by Credit Manager, Finance Director and/or Sr. Director of Credit
COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to work under deadlines and complete projects in a timely manner
- Self-motivated with creative problem solving skills
- Must be able to work independently, and as part of a team, to meet the Goals and Objectives established by the Supervisor and/or Company Management
- Excellent communication skills and “customer service” focus
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- 5 - 7 years of Credit and Collections experience within a Warehouse/Distribution environment
- Associates Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business is required; Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business is preferred.
- Account Reconciliation experience is required
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with Customers, Management and Sales personnel
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate’s unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.
In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark’s’ benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
