POSITION SUMMARY
The CRISTA Resource Officer position is accountable for advising and educating all of CRISTA Ministries and Resource Departments on creating and maintaining a safe, non-violent secure Campus environment and provide a highly visible presence to deter or identify criminal activity on campus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES:
School Safety:
- Provide classroom-based instruction for students, faculty and Staff on violence prevention.
- Identify potential at risk students for violent behavior and engage in relationships in partnership with school counselors and administration.
- Work with counselors and staff to provide students with referrals to service agencies as necessary.
- Be visible within the school community, attending and participating in school functions and events.
- Initiate interactions with students, parents and staff to promote a positive relationship between minority communities and law enforcement.
CRISTA Community Leadership:
- Act as a deterrent to anyone who would bring violence to CRISTA Campus
- Be an active member and leading advisor for CRISTA’s Crisis Management Support Team (CMST) in reviewing and designing effective systems, protocol, and responses for organizational wide needs.
- Serve as a liaison between local police and CRISTA Administration, collaborating with CRISTA’s Security department on safety plans for events and activities.
- Identify safety and security risks and areas for improvement in facilities and campus environment.
- Respond to critical incidents within the community, protecting the safety of all staff, students, residents and administration while also ensuring that the appropriate speed and depth of support in working with local law enforcement.
- Collaborate and provide expertise to the community and support CRISTA’s Security department on critical organizational issues and incidents.
- Security Consultant liaison for all CRISTA properties.
Training and Instruction:
- Identify, lead and train administration on protocols for critical incident response such as “Active Shooter”, campus Lockdown or any threat of violence situations.
- Provide instructional courses to Schools and CRISTA communities on safety/defense training and violence prevention.

- Maintaining current safety and security training annually
- Completion of CRISTA Resource Officer annual action plan
- Feedback from CRISTA Staff
- Direct Feedback from CMST and Supervisor
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
CHRIST CENTERED
- Belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior
- Ongoing affirmation of alignment with and support of CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
- Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- 10 years in law enforcement. SWAT or Gang squad experience a plus.
- 5 Years Community Relations and Communications
- Staff and Customer relations
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
- Annual Weapon Certification
- Concealed Weapons permit
- Active Shooter prevention and response training
SOFTWARE / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
General computer schools including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Comfort and expertise working in a multi-ethnic and multi-racial environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
