We invite you to apply to join our team as a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt Custodian to join our team with the Public Works Department. The purpose of this position is to perform the custodial maintenance of County facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment for staff and visitors, and to perform related work as required.
Work Schedule: Must be able to work the hours of 5:00am-2:00pm and or 8:00am-5:00pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide general custodial maintenance in assigned County facilities.
Attend training as required to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Maintain accurate and complete records of work performed.
Perform all work in compliance with County policies, procedures and standards.
Receive and respond to inquiries, and complaints from County staff and the public.
Order and stock cleaning supplies.
Coordinate the locking and unlocking of doors, and set or disarm security systems.
Ensure walkways and parking areas are swept.
Maintain cleanliness, and accurate supplies in restrooms.
Collect and distribute inter-office mail and deliver outgoing mail to external mail boxes.
Other Duties:
Remove and replace liners in trash receptacles as needed.
Dust and clean surfaces including doors, walls, showers, refrigerators, microwaves and other appliances, and telephones.
Move furniture as required for cleaning and preparing for events and meetings.
Operate vehicles, hand trucks, floor buffers, floor burnishers, vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, and wet/dry vacuums. Use washing machines and common cleaning tools.
Maintain cleanliness of all floor surfaces.

ABOUT YOU - Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience.
Certifications and Licenses:
Valid State Driver's License is preferred not required.
Certification in CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System Certificate).
Sexual Harassment Class, Workplace Violence, Blood Bourne Pathogens Class annually, and PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) course.
Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Attributes:
Knowledge and ability to follow proper procedures and use of custodial/maintenance equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Knowledge of chemicals and personal protective equipment.
Knowledge in cleaning and disposing of bodily fluids.
Ability to follow instructions and manage time effectively.
Good customer service skills.
Knowledge and ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical and Dexterity Requirements:
Requires work involving: Sitting, climbing or balancing, and lifting up to 50 pounds under 1/3 of the time, Tasting or smelling 1/3 - 2/3 of the time, standing, walking, gripping or feeling with hands, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and talking or hearing over 2/3 of the time.
Vision Requirements:
Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point), Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
Potential Environmental Conditions/Hazards:
The job may risk exposure to Indoor environment, Outdoor environment, Noise, Extreme temperatures, Vibration, Moisture and/or humidity, Dust, Fumes, Gases, Poor ventilation, Electrical hazards, Mechanical hazards, Chemical hazards, Explosive hazards, burn hazards, Potential for violence/physical altercations, May be exposed to or come in contact with infectious diseases.
