Salary range for this position is: $17.44/hr. - $21.00/hr. (depending on experience)

Custodial Services contributes to the success of the college by providing a clean and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while maintaining facilities at the highest standard possible, to ensure that teaching and learning occur in a safe and sanitary environment

Please note that Seattle Colleges is working under hybrid remote and on-site operations, pending public health guidance and business needs. Per CDC and WA Public Health directions, at this time we will be practicing social distancing and holding interviews virtually using video conference or teleconference options. What you will be working on:
- You’ll maintain and operate electric powered janitorial tools and electric or gas-powered grounds equipment; such as vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, floor scrubbers, pressure washers, lawn mowers, and edging tools.
- You’ll clean restrooms, locker rooms, class rooms, kitchens, elevators, indoor common areas, and outdoor grounds areas to SCC custodial cleaning standards.
- You’ll move furniture and equipment, arrange tables and chairs for classrooms and special events.
- You’ll provide proper upkeep of door entryways, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, or other features. This includes continuous weeding, gathering of litter, and graffiti removal.
- You’ll shovel snow and apply deicer when necessary.
- You’ll safely clean up and dispose of hazardous materials.
- You’ll participate in scheduled safety trainings.
What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; reading, writing, and speaking
- One or more years of custodian/janitorial experience
- Demonstrated ability to utilize a computer to complete timesheets and other employment-related tasks
- Valid Washington State Driver License with a driving record that will not inhibit from being insured
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
