Position Overview

In this role, you’ll take incoming calls, receive orders, schedule daily deliveries, and address customer issues as they arise. You will also operate a scale weighing aggregate trucks and help our customers as they pick up products. If you are someone who is highly motivated with a strong sense of teamwork and obtain the ability to build strong relationships with our internal and external customers, you’ll fit perfectly within our team. Our ideal candidate will also have extensive knowledge of the service area, preferably in the transportation and construction industry. Wage: $20-22/hr DOE

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • Providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Greeting and assisting visitors entering the yard and ensure site specific safety rules are understood and followed.
  • Working alongside truck drivers and team members to ensure delivery of high-quality products.
  • Scheduling and dispatching dump trucks as needed.
  • High attention to detail to accurately record delivery and product information into dispatch system.
  • Ability to negotiate delivery times with customers. As proficiency is gained, may coordinate and schedule deliveries of aggregate and/or concrete products to construction and residential sites.
  • Ability to efficiently handle a high volume of calls.
  • Ensuring efficiency of weighing trucks across scale.
  • Monitoring load sizes of company trucks.
  • Cash handling procedures which include receiving and logging cash from C.O.D. sales and gravel tickets, and balancing and maintaining the cash box.
  • Communicating with loader operator via two-way radio to accomplish the loading of pick-up customers.
  • Traveling between various work site locations (local) as needed.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Other tasks as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational, customer service, and telephone skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with all departments and customers on the phone and in person.
  • Detailed-oriented and thorough in all duties and able to work extended hours when needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a high stress environment.
  • Ability to perform well in a small team environment.
  • Ability to handle problems as they arise in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work overtime and varying shifts including early mornings, late afternoons, and weekends as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain company or state rules and regulations.
  • Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • One to two years related experience in customer service field.
  • Trucking and construction related industry experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) - Ability to speak, read, and write fluently.
  • Ability to navigate various GPS systems.
  • Familiarity with our local delivery areas.


Work Environment:

  • Office setting
  • This position is largely sedentary; however, caution needs to be taken when lifting files, boxes, opening file cabinet drawers.
  • To avoid injuries to hands, back, and neck, proper ergonomics should be maintained while working at desk/workstation.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
