Job Summary

The Knowledge Manager plays a key role in supporting Armtec’s ability to deliver outstanding results for our customers. The Knowledge Manager will work to develop and improve systems to capture the best of our staff’s individual and collective expertise and organizational knowledge and make it easily and quickly accessible and retrievable by the broader company. Our knowledge needs to be quickly and efficiently accessed and referenced by our staff in order to speed our business activities.


This includes capturing, tagging, archiving, updating, indexing, and curating all forms of our organizational knowledge. This information exists in artifacts like our technical documents, analyses, reports, and records contained in systems like our version controlled document management system, our organizational wiki, various recordkeeping systems, and project file systems, but also exists as tacit knowledge and know-how in our team-members heads. The Knowledge Manager will set our knowledge management strategy, help to identify gaps in our organizational knowledgebase, establish procedures and standards, and seek to distill project information and topic knowledge into manageable artifacts.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Define the knowledge management strategy for our knowledge base and maintain high quality, up-to-date, and searchable content for staff of varying skill level.
  • Identify and capture key information from projects and process change activities.
  • Coordinate with peers to identify content priorities and gaps and work with the team to capture and codify materials.
  • Maintain and improve the user interfaces to our organizational knowledge to improve access and reduce time to locate needed information.
  • Acts as a champion for knowledge management and promotes continued enhancements in process, content, and best practices across the company, creating the conditions for knowledge to easily flow between people.
  • Encourage correct and widespread usage of the company's knowledge base.
  • Develop and manage information architecture as well as taxonomy to enforce effective communication and develop and improve style guides and artifact templates to improve consistency and speed information assimilation.
  • Help to establish knowledge frameworks and manage our re-usable standard content.
  • Create guidelines for what information is captured, and by whom.
  • Helps develop materials on key topics relevant to the business by developing and packaging summary documents and providing updated or custom analyses. Package and codify our best thinking into insights.
  • Manage our controlled document change process.
  • Migrate, merge, update, or otherwise integrate data and knowledge from older collection systems to unify all our knowledge into a system accessible through one main intuitive point of entry.
  • Oversee knowledge associates in managing and maintaining the knowledge base.
  • Utilize qualitative user feedback and quantitative data to present improvements across system.
  • Identify and implement productivity improvements to reduce the amount of time required to capture and retrieve knowledge.
  • Develop and use metrics to monitor the frequency of use and satisfaction levels.
  • Understand and live by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with good technical and scientific aptitude.
  • 6+ years of current and proven experience in implementing KM strategies and building KM systems in the technology industry.
  • Excellent computer and Knowledge management software system skills. Strong skills desired in Sharepoint, Teams, HTML, and PTC Windchill.
  • Must be intellectually curious and have strong analytical abilities with high attention to detail
  • Strong presentation and technical writing and editing skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Work Hours & Travel

  • 4X10 work week with occasional overtime as necessary to meet business objectives.
  • Minimal travel required.
