Database Administrator/ Senior Programmer

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
- Design, write, test, document, install, and maintain user applications;
- Communicate with faculty and staff to assess needs and design code to meet their requirements;
- Assist in system operations and maintenance;
- Perform core DBA tasks such as Database Administration on the Oracle environment, performance tuning, schema creation, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting, user access and security, procedures, and tuning of the database to ensure ongoing operation and access;
- Identify, monitor, recommend and implement changes to database and database applications;
- Develop and maintain Oracle SQL and PL/SQL scripts, Unix Shell Scripts; debugging, and tuning;
- Develop and monitor batch job schedules;
- Implement best practices on new Oracle database technologies;
- Serve as an expert resource on process/functionality issues for enterprise systems;
- Assist users in functional areas to understand and apply system processes and provide subject-matter expertise to internal and external clients as required;
- Analyze and resolve database issues; work with user groups to evaluate reporting needs;
- Design, develop, implement and maintain campus-wide reporting solutions that help end users to access and analyze data in the data warehouse and production databases.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of application design and programming
- Knowledge of college functions and operations including student registration, finance, and instructional support
- Knowledge of database administration functions
- Ability to work with district committees, task forces, and teams
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software in a mixed networked environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the Oracle database.
- Expertise in SQL and PL/SQL. Backup and recovery experience including RMAN.
- Knowledge of Oracle database architecture and optimization; understanding of data integrity concepts; strong problem-solving skills; knowledge of data warehouse design and implementation.
- Experience in business requirements assessment. Knowledge of business intelligence concepts and tools;
- Experience in the business intelligence environment as both administrator and developer.
Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent of three years of college with 15 units in computer science and/or management information systems,
and experience developing applications using a minimum of two different platforms including relational databases, programming languages, and experience with Oracle database administration functions and ERP
(Enterprise Resource Planning system
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with databases such as Oracle, and MS-Access; programming languages such as PL/SQL, Pro-C; and interactive web applications such as Visual BASIC or Java script.

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:
The salary range for the position is a Grade 38 on the 2022-23 Classified Salary Schedule, with a range of $36.38-$44.22 per hour.
