We are currently seeking Direct Support Professionals to provide direct supervision and training to individuals with intellectual disabilities in a Day Support setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct Monitoring Supports and Supervision, assisting with Activities of Daily Living, facilitating various Recreational, Leisurely, and Semi-Educational activities, supporting individuals on Community Outings, and maintaining daily Progress Note documentation .
This is a Full-Time position, Monday - Friday, with shifts ranging between 7:30am - 3:30pm or 8:00am - 4:00pm based on current needs.
We are located in the Greater Richmond Region with Day Support sites in both Eastern Henrico and North Chesterfield.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Direct supervision and implementation of Individualized Service Plan (ISP) goals for a group of individuals with Intellectual Disabilities
- Work effectively with a diverse group of individuals, including those with mental health diagnoses, behavioral challenges, physical limitations, and other complex needs
- Provide training and assistance to participants in activities of daily living, such as grooming, bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting
- Ensure well-being of program participants by following prescribed safety protocols, providing medication administration, and educating on basic safety skills
- Plan and facilitate engaging and meaningful activities for participants, both on-site and in the community
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participant progress and activities, following agency policies and procedures
- Provide transportation and supervision during activities and other outings in the community
- Foster a safe, respectful, and positive environment for participants to thrive in
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is a must
- High school diploma or GED is required
- Strong verbal and written communication is a must
- Experience writing therapeutic daily notes and documentation preferred
- Medication Management Certification is preferred
- CPR and First Aid certified is required*
- Experience with challenging behaviors and de-escalation is preferred. TOVA Behavior Management Training is required*
- Must have a valid Virginia driver's license and a driving record in good standing
- Must be deemed eligible for employment based on the outcome of both an FBI criminal background investigation check and a Central Registry Check
- Existing Certifications and Trainings are preferred; however, employer may provide opportunities for required trainings upon hire.
