Bring your proven record of accomplishment and experience in leading diverse staff as our new Deputy Director of State Operated Community Residential (SOCR) Programs with the Developmental Disabilities Administration. This dynamic role will assist in overseeing the daily operations of the State Operated Living Alternatives (SOLA), Stabilization, Assessment & Intervention Facility (SAIF), and Intensive Habilitation Services for Children (IHS). Your work will support more than 200 people in state-operated community residential programs and over 800 staff.
As a visionary leader, your efforts will ensure we reach program objectives and maintain regulatory compliance. This is not your average long-term care leadership role; the programs you support directly transform lives by allowing our most vulnerable citizens to be able to remain in their community through community-based service settings. To be successful, you will need to work in close partnership with several stakeholders both internal and external to DSHS in addition to the clients and families utilizing these services.
Some of what you will do:
Serve as Deputy to the Director of the daily operations and supervision of SOCR programs- Ensure services comply with all local, state, and federal regulations and residential service guidelines that govern health, safety, programmatic, legal, and any other applicable regulatory requirements
- Ensure that program objectives are consistent with the Department and Administration service mission, goals, and objectives
- Ensure plans of correction resulting from audits, inspections, investigations, and evaluations are submitted, approved, and implemented
- In conjunction with DDA leadership, direct key statewide strategic planning, performance management, and other cross-divisional efforts that may influence statewide operations, policy, and/or service delivery
- Assist in coaching key management staff and leadership teams to ensure collaborative planning and the development of shared mission, vision, and values
- Ensure that the Administration meets timelines set for transformational work within the Administration as well as for work across the Department
- Oversee personnel, labor/management activities working with two labor contracts, and all the different programs of SOCR
- Oversee development and implementation of program quality assurance regulations that apply to services focused on meeting federal, state, and local standards and regulations
- Ability to analyze trends and patterns to drive and support policy direction
- Ability to present key Administration program and policy information effectively and concisely to a wide variety of audiences
- Ability to do long-range planning, as well as focus on specific details within the plan
- Ability to delegate major tasks to staff and follow through to ensure work is completed accurately and within deadlines
- Experience working within a large enterprise-level organization and historical knowledge of key DDA issues and initiatives
- Ability to withstand intense political pressure from a diverse constituency
- Ability to interpret financial forecast data
- Ability to develop budget proposals and implement appropriations
- Ability to communicate effectively with the media
- Ability to engage stakeholders on the future direction of SOCR
Professionals with a minimum of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in social service or related field
- Seven years of experience working in the field of developmental disabilities, preferred in residential setting and crisis services setting
- Ten years of management experience leading diverse teams and a minimum of five years supervising at a professional level
