Cannon Equipment , a producer of custom material handling carts and conveyance is looking for a Design Engineer 2 to develop solutions from concept through production to amaze our cart customers.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors in mechanical engineering or equivalent is required
  • 3+ years of product design experience required.
  • CAD proficiency (Inventor, Solidworks, or Creo), with PLM experience (Vault, Windchill, etc.)
  • MS Office proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Demonstrated ability to move multiple projects forward simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accomplished in adhering to established time and cost budgets.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of sheet metal and tube design
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and metal forming principles
  • Understanding of weldment design
  • Experience designing for manufacturing
  • Understanding of ergonomic principles
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and controls design
  • FEA (Finite Element Analysis)

Job Responsibilities

  • Interface with customers and sales personnel to develop project requirements
  • Create sales drawings and presentations to communicate features to customers
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings for production
  • Determine and optimize product costs for internal customers
  • Evaluate current and legacy products for improvements in cost and performance
  • Develop and execute testing plans to verify and validate product performance
  • Perform continuous improvement activities to advance engineering processes and procedures
  • Keeps leadership apprised of project statuses and any impediments, making recommendations for resolutions
  • Requires work related travel up to 10% for customer and vendor visits
