Role Summary:

The Design Engineer Healthcare will be part of the Healthcare Division and part of the corporate design team. The primary responsibility will be designing thermoformed packaging and parts for healthcare customers, becoming the subject matter expert regarding medical device and pharmaceutical packaging design. The design engineer healthcare collaborates with customers, sales, customer service, prototype, shop, and production to create highly functionable thermoformed packaging and products that meet customers design intent. The Design Engineer will guide projects from the initial sketch through prototype sample approval, mold building and production approval.

Accountable for:

• In-depth knowledge of the healthcare market and design principles
• Is point person for all part design related questions
• Designing healthcare packaging in accordance current Plastic Ingenuity and industry design standards
• Suppling the tool shop with required information to efficiently cut prototype samples and production molds
• Work with customers to define package requirements and create a thermoformable solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations while assuring final part design is highly manufacturable
• Develop specifications of thermoformed parts in collaboration with quality and production teams
• Utilize creative thinking to develop design options as part of corporate design ideation process
• Follow good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety
• Understand and comply with confidentially requirements
• Complete required documentation on design and tooling changes, electronic storage of drawings and other customer or Plastic Ingenuity related documentation

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology Management or equivalent. Practical experience may take the place of all or part of the formal education requirement
• 1-2 years of industry experience to become familiar with a broad range of packaging methods and techniques
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Strong project management skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Great attention to detail
• Background in package or design engineering
• Strong working knowledge of CAD software (preferably Solidworks)
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization as well as directly with customers
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
• Must model the highest degree of moral and ethical behavior
