Development Associate Job at Legal Aid Bureau

Maryland Legal Aid announces an immediate opening for a full-time Development Associate to join its development office in Baltimore City. The Development Associate provides creative and administrative support to the Development Office for all fundraising activities, with primary responsibility for donor communications, database management, coordination of United Way and online giving campaigns, support of the Equal Justice Associates group, and donor research. The Associate is also responsible for assisting with special events, as well as additional support for the development program as needed. The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer who is exceptionally detail-oriented and tech-savvy.
Duties and Responsibilities
Donor Communications

Draft, coordinate and execute donor communications including direct mail solicitation appeals, timely acknowledgment letters, e-newsletters, event invitations, and related correspondence

Coordinate interviews with advocates and clients in preparation of drafting client success stories
Campaign Management

Manage donor database, including gift entry, donor reports, donor prospect entry, and moves management tracking

Draft and submit United Way Campaign applications, coordinate and conduct United Way Campaign outreach

Coordinate website donations and online giving campaigns
Events and Volunteers

Provide support to Equal Justice Associates, a volunteer group of young lawyers advocating and fundraising on behalf of Maryland Legal Aid

Assist in planning and presenting donor cultivation events

Represent the organization at partner and community events throughout the year
Corporate Giving

Assist with researching, drafting and submitting corporate grant applications; manage grants following awards
Qualifications
-
Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field

Two years of experience in not-for-profit development preferred

Excellent written/oral communication skills

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database management experience

Ability to organize and prioritize work
