Digital Audio Producer Job at ESPN
Position Summary:
The Digital Audio Producer will be responsible for content development, production/promotion, and ad integration for ESPN’s The Right Time with Bomani Jones podcast, for both audio and on-demand video, as well as other assigned titles or genres. They work daily with the Digital Production leadership team, talent, digital audio/video business stakeholders, and internal and external content and distribution partners. They will be involved in both short and long-range content strategy and planning of the show, communicate daily expectations, deliver feedback to talent and staff, and may oversee and manage direct reports. Responsibilities will include related operational tasks and assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, enhances, and advances story ideas and concepts both in daily productions and for long term planning.
- Become a subject matter expert on the ESPN Digital Platforms and apply that expertise to expand reach, engagement, and distribution of content.
- Participate with Business Development, Ad Sales and Marketing in the evaluation of new revenue partners that integrate into ESPN digital properties.
- Supervises the compiling and editing of materials necessary for production on all relevant platforms. Works in collaboration with colleagues in similar ESPN productions in the development of compelling cross-promotional content.
- Has a strong understanding of how to operate digital audio hardware, software, and facilities.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of relevant sports stories and newsmakers; books relevant guests for program appearances accordingly.
- Will assist in the recruitment and development of guest talent. Provides creative and editorial guidelines to on-air commentators in order to enrich quality of content.
- Analyze usage and performance metrics that can lead to content enhancements and improvements.
- Must have strong skills in the area of social media/listener engagement. Producer will develop overall audience development strategy for the show in concert with the marketing team. Coordinates with marketing team, around key events, from planning to execution.
- Participate in meetings/directives from ESPN Audio Content Leadership as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in podcast, digital video, or sports radio production.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with podcast production and/or digital video is preferred.
- Sports radio experience preferred.
Required Education:
- High School Education
Preferred Education
- Undergraduate degree in communications preferred.
