Position Summary
The Digital Content Creator reports to and works closely with the Digital Media Manager to create content, execute campaigns, write strategy and measure progress for Westminster’s flagship social media channels @WestminsterSLC. This position is a great opportunity to build technical skills that are increasingly important in a digital world.
The Westminster social media channels are the front door to the college. Content creation requires collaboration, creativity, knowledge of platforms and the latest trends in social media. The world of social is constantly changing and requires one to be flexible; both proactive and reactive.
Speaking on behalf of the college is a tremendous responsibility. The college speaks to several different audiences (prospective students, current students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, local community, etc.) about a wide variety of messages. Learning Westminster’s voice and tone will be paramount and using that voice to create and build community is the goal.
This position is a temporary assignment for the academic year August through May. Reduced summer hours may be available.

- Sprout Social, a social media management platform system
- The PR, Social, Marketing project management system
- The expertise and mentoring from professionals in Office of Marketing and Communication
- Certain shared documents/SharePoint as needed
- An iPhone and DSLR for content creation during office hours
The Digital Content will frequently work with other campus community members in all parts of campus for specific projects as identified.

Required Qualifications
- Experience using various social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Instagram Stories, Twitter, etc.) and leveraging different settings to effectively communicate messages.
- Experience capturing video and creating short-form videos that are on brand.
- Must have superior attention to detail.
- Creative content development approach to provide unique solutions.
- Demonstrate good judgment and have strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-starter- willing to take initiative, ask questions and propose new ideas.
- Ability to quickly learn new SM apps and related technology.
- Desire to learn and experiment with new forms of content such as video, photography,
graphics, and curate live-content.
Preferred Qualifications
- Communications and Marketing majors may be preferred. All majors encouraged to apply.
- Prior experience with visual communication (i.e. photography, videography).
- Prior experience writing content with demonstrated spelling and grammar skills.

- Ideate and create videos for Westminster TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
- Write copy, captions, and edit written submissions use on all @WestminsterSLC social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn). Attend various campus events—as needed—to capture quality photography and video.
- Monitor social media for emerging trends and topical areas of interest. What’s trending? What are our audiences saying?
- Monitor direct messages and community feedback, then respond to comments and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Assist in tracking monthly metrics, analytics and reporting methods to gauge success.
- Collaborate with supervisor and other student workers to complete projects, including event coverage, campaign series, editorial decisions and calendaring, and more.
- May occasionally be asked to appear as Griff mascot, wearing the mascot uniform/wardrobe for photography, video, campaigns etc.
