Description of role:

A Direct Support Professional is a person who assists an individual with a disability to lead a self-directed life and contribute to the community. You will assists with activities of daily living if needed, and encourages attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion. A DSP may provide support to a person with a disability at home, work, school, church, and other community places. Our organization strongly believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. At the present time, we are looking for an experienced individual to fill the role of Direct Support Professional. The right candidate will be responsible for providing compassionate care and assistance to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. If you have prior experience working with developmentally disabled adults in a direct care role, we encourage you to apply for this position.

Tasks:

• Provide supervision and guidance for residents during skills building activities
• Implement individual treatment plans for residents
• Assist with daily living activities, including preparing meals and assisting with personal hygiene
• Develop a rapport with residents and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship
• Update resident case notes on a daily basis
• Ensure an appropriate staff-to-client ratio at all times
• Collaborate with clients and families for best care opportunities
• Ensure health, safety & welfare of individuals.

Skills and Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED required
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

• Compassionate about the care and well-being of others
• Ability to pass a background check
• Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20lb items.

Work Schedule:

We offer Full time, Part time and Per Diem shifts. All employees must be open to traveling to adjacent boroughs for work.

$15.00 - $16.00 per hour
