POSITION SUMMARY

Our Teen Outreach Program engages teens in Tacoma and neighboring communities by providing activities and program opportunities in a safe and inclusive environment. Our program provides intentional and empowering experiences that strengthen relationships, builds social-emotional skills, and that drive personal growth and development.

As the Teen Late Night Director, you will plan and lead a wide range of youth and teen programs. This will include teaching, developing, and supervising all youth and teen programs for middle to high school youth. Additionally, the Teen Late Night Director will perform the hiring, training, and supervising of staff in the program.

FUNCTION/TASKS

  • Develop, plan and deliver curriculums and programs, and coordinate class schedules in conjunction with other staff and programs to enhance participation levels.
  • Develop new programs with input from teen focus groups, surveys, parents, schools, community partners.
  • Keep current on youth and teen activity trends while developing a full range of programs to meet the needs of youth and family in the community.
  • Assist and organize special youth and family events related to youth programs that are open to members and nonmembers.
  • Work in conjunction with the Teen Program Coordinator, Operations and Marketing Department to develop a plan, to specifically reach teens.
  • Be enthusiastic toward members and staff by expressing an interest in their BGCSPS activities. Strive to enrich their experience by introducing them to new programs, staff, members and volunteer activities.
  • Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Physical Education, Education or related field; OR equivalent knowledge and experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of various activities and programs to engage youth and teens.
  • Knowledge of children (Ages 10 to 18yrs) trends and interests with the ability to create programming options around those interests.
  • Positive attitude and previous experience with teens and diverse populations
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, computer knowledge, and file maintenance.
  • CPR for the Professional, AED First Aid and Oxygen certifications (preferred).
  • Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day. Complete other online and in-person training as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

To keep our staff safe we adhere to the CDC safety guidelines and remain in close communication with local health departments, program partners and local School Districts to work together to serve our youth in the safest way we can.

Skills essential for successful communications include speaking and writing. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, being active and on your feet for a minimum of four hours; adapt to changes in a highly energetic work environment; other duties as assigned.

Environment of the position: both indoors and outdoors; possibility of adverse weather conditions; noise, dust, pollen and insects; including contact with the public. Possible contact with dissatisfied and/or abusive individuals.

BENEFITS

Paid Sick Leave - In accordance with Washington Paid Sick Leave, you will accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. You are eligible to use Paid Sick Leave after 30 days of continuous employment
