Provides the creative strategy and leadership for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona’s brand. Leading both the internal creative team as well as external agencies, the creative director establishes the design direction that brings to life BCBSAZs brand in a way that reinforces the power of the Blue brand, resonates with audiences and moves them to action. Responsible for developing and leading the visual and voice representation of the company’s brand identity. A master storyteller who can turn ideas into powerful creative concepts. Collaborates with the leadership team to ensure both an integrated brand approach and targeted messaging for each segment. Sets project management and workflow processes for the marketing team to achieve quality, efficient and effective communication and collaboration.

Required Work Experience
- 8 years of management experience in creative services
- BA or BS degree in arts, fine arts, graphic design, liberal arts, marketing, advertising, communications, or related field required

ESSENTIAL job functions AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, design and oversee creative strategy, concepts and execution and serves as the lead for all creative initiatives; help integrate activities and campaigns across all segments and all audiences.
- Lead development and updates of visual and voice identity system and guidelines.
- Listen, question, prioritize and translate business needs and marketing goals into amazing creative concepts, stories and design, from conception through production.
- Lead and manage a creative team that operates efficiently and effectively while continuously innovating to deliver high-quality, on-target, on-time and on-brand results.
- Help build a culture of strategic thinking and thoughtful inquiry, making decisions based on actual insights and data.
- Coordinate closely with marketing and communications leadership team to support ongoing integration of overall strategy, messaging and brand experience.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of direct response advertising design, digital and print design, photography, videography and new media, as well as how best to approach delivering integrated visual stories across distinct platforms.
- Handle multiple assignments well, maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.
- Proactively discover areas of improvement and recommend thoughtful solutions to executive leadership.
- Stay abreast of industry news and best practices to maintain a deep understanding of the current visual communications landscape and emerging trends.
- Assist in developing creative direction for new brands
- Operate under general direction from the Chief Marketing officer.
- Build and lead a high-performance team; hire and retain high-caliber talent in clearly defined roles; set goals, delegate work, hold direct reports accountable; develop and empower direct reports to make decisions and take action.
- Monitor quality performance measures, develop and maintain effective workflows, and maximize system efficiencies.
- Manage use of corporate funds including budgeting, financial management, and reporting. Identify opportunities to achieve administrative efficiencies while maintaining service.
- Participate in strategic planning activities and contribute to departmental and cross-functional teams to achieve BCBSAZ goals and ensure future success.
- The position requires a full-time work schedule. Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any additional hours as requested or as needed to meet business requirements.

- Expert written and verbal communications, targeted at both internal and external customers and key stakeholders.
- Intermediate PC proficiency.
- Intermediate skill in In Design, Illustrator or Photoshop
- Intermediate skill in word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
