SUMMARY: The Director, Direct Response is responsible for the strategic development, oversight, and execution of effective direct marketing strategies and tactics designed to drive donor response and overall fundraising growth. The Director will lead keystone direct marketing efforts, including direct mail and telemarketing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead all direct mail and telemarketing initiatives, specifically focused on increased acquisition, donor retention, revenue growth, and donor upgrades
- Oversee the direct response campaigns and projects from inception to completion, including list rental strategy, data modeling, creative, and post-campaign analysis
- In partnership with individual giving team, design and implement and mid-level track and consistent touch points high-value donors with the purpose of donor retention and upgrades
- Develop a conversion program that achieves multi-year donor engagement
- Responsible for achieving program revenue goals, on budget and on time with increases year over year
- Analyze donor giving trends, using donor database, marketing analytics, and industry benchmarks to recommend strategic shifts and program direction
- Track donor trends, program costs, and return on investment (ROI) through KPIs, giving statistics, successes, and outcomes and propose recommendations to improve performance.
- Develop framework to onboard newly acquired donors, including welcome kits and stewardship opportunities
- Provide guidance for acknowledgment letters
- Assist with the creation of donor and supporter journey maps to understand, prioritize, and audience needs
- Partner cross functionally to ensure the direct marketing program is inclusive of all development opportunities, provides continuity of the Association’s brand, and supports the Association’s strategic priorities
- Develop, build, and manage vendor relationships to increase and sustain performance, capacity, and resourcing
- Work closely with data and technology team to continuously improve data processes and develop accessible and on-demand dashboard tools
- Make evidence-based recommendations to advance the Association’s strategic priorities
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly and indirectly supervises employees within the marketing department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or four to six years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five years relevant and progressive experience in direct marketing and fundraising
- Possess a high level of competency with Salesforce
- Ability to evaluate and analyze donor trends
PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The ALS Association’s pay range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 annually.
The ALS Association has compensation ranges for various work locations throughout the United States, allowing us to compensate employees competitively and consistently in diverse geographic markets. The above-listed listed range shows prospective compensation for this role; the appropriate range will be established by what is eventually determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Various factors, including the complexity and significance of the role, job duties/requirements, relevant experience and abilities, and primary work location, determine individual compensation. Compensation ranges are evaluated and typically adjusted on a regular basis. Offers are made within the compensation range that is in effect at the time of the job offer.
The Association may, at its discretion, offer merit-based increases tied to individual performance. The benefits listed may differ depending on employment status with the Association.
