Director Facilities and Investment Job at FM Industries

DESCRIPTION:

The Investment Director is responsible for the overall strategy, development and execution of capital equipment and capital facilities investment for FM Industries. They will lead, coordinate and project manage all aspects of thecapital investment to ensure investment meets or exceeds manufacturing or facility requirements. They will work collaboratively with the General Managers, Quality, Engineering, IT and Facilities Manager(s) to ensure requirements are met, providing a seamless, one-company service delivery to the customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

· Work as a member of the company senior Leadership Team, contributing to shaping the overall direction and strategy of the business.

· Confers with General Managers, Quality, IT and Facilities Manager(s) to enssure requirements are met.

  • Define equipment specifications to meet manufacturing requirements.

· Confers with management, engineering, and other relevant staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate and positively impact production processes.

  • Oversees “Capital Equipment Authorization” process for corporate approval by NGK.
  • Performs engineering activities in compliance with established company and manufacturing standards, engineering principles, customer requirements, and related specifications.
  • Interacts with factory employees, appropriate management and operations personnel, and other department personnel. Communicates with the Engineering Manager to obtain instruction, assistance, and communicate concerns.
  • Provide technical guidance (product and process) to all functional departments as required
  • Identify and recommend improvement activities and cost reduction projects
  • Provide project management support according to company directive through installation of purchased equipment or completion of capital improvement projects.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • BA or BS in Manufacturing Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in a contemporary precision manufacturing industry

· Equivalent combination of education and experience with installation of equipment and facilities improvement projects

· Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management

  • Computer literate including, but no limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Organization and planning skills
  • Analytical/writing skills
  • A proven track record in successful multi-discipline, complex project management planning and implementations
  • Ability to plan and execute presentations to large groups of people

RECOMMENDED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Machine tending certification
  • Lean Enterprise certification
  • Lean 6 sigma certification
  • GD&T certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle objects
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift and move objects up to 15 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work in a normal office setting with frequent visits to the manufacturing floor and certified cleanroom
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to moderate
  • The employee will occasionally be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment
