Director, Government Affairs

Part-Time (16H/week)

  • To represent the LIU College of Pharmacy before the legislative and administrative branches of New York State government with regard to innovations in the practice of pharmacy
  • Collaborate with LIU Pharmacy administrator(s) to define goals and priorities, to discuss strategies, and to develop materials to be used in advocacy efforts in Albany;
  • Develop working knowledge of the courses and opportunities available to pharmacy students enrolled in the LIU PHARM D program;
  • Develop positive working relationships with individuals in state government in positions to affect state policy who are in key executive branch positions, members of certain NYS Senate and Assembly committees and legislators who represent the campus and surrounding area;
  • Arrange meetings with administrators, legislators and key staff to advance defined priorities, meetings to include LIU personnel when necessary;
  • File regular written reports to LIU Pharmacy administrator(s);
  • Contact designated individuals in other NYS colleges of pharmacy as directed by LIU and coordinate meetings when necessary
  • Comply with applicable NYS lobbying laws and regulations with regard to registration and reports.
  • Collaborate with LIU government affairs personnel to align University goals and initiatives


Requirements:

  • Previous experience in governmental affairs
  • Exceptional social and interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills
