This Opportunity
Louis Berger Services (LBS) is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Director of Ethics and Compliance. The position will be located in the following area(s): Washington, DC.
***This is a hybrid role that requires working in the office 2-3 days a week! ***
The Director, Ethics & Compliance, is responsible for providing oversight of ethics and compliance team activities and serving as a senior member of the function within the Louis Berger Services organization. Primary job duties consist of delivering specialized, functional services from the Ethics & Compliance Department, including training, policy and procedure development, internal investigations, third party vetting, controls auditing, risk management, or other tasks as required.
Your Impact
- Design strategy for delivery of specialized, functional services to the business from all functions within the Ethics & Compliance team.
- Identify need for development of functional/cross-functional policies, procedures, and internal templates
- Assess risk, execute, and optimize controls (e.g., third party screening, conflicts of interest, and gifts, entertainment, and hospitality).
- Accurately triage and determine response for concerns reported by LBS employees.
- Create and implement processes for effective internal investigations, within WSP Global guidelines.
- Review, edit and lead development of Ethics & Compliance intranet, shared web sites, and awareness messaging.
- Develop and deliver training to build staff awareness of ethics and compliance expectations, processes, and procedures.
- Supervise and perform monitoring and auditing of compliance program activities (e.g., vetting, gifts/conflicts registration) and management of function's files and records.
- Actively participate and regularly contribute (e.g., participate on conference program(s) with panels, poster sessions, papers, and presentations) in one or more professional organizations, e.g., Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, Ethics & Compliance Initiative or similar local, national or international organization.
- Lead, manage, oversee, and guide others in creation of high quality technical and professional deliverables, program documents and reports.
- Organize practice and functional teams, as needed.
- Consistently demonstrate innovative thinking and application of state-of-the-art tools and expertise.
- Deepen technical expertise in corporate ethics and compliance.
- Professionally and clearly communicate with ethics and compliance team members, project and proposal managers, legal/contracts/risk management, finance, project accounting, and other disciplines as necessary.
- Apply technical expertise as required and serve as a reliable subject matter expert on assigned topics.
- Seek opportunities to share knowledge with and mentor junior staff and impart professional skills to others.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct.
- Abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in Ethics & Compliance, Legal, Audit or related functions.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education.
- Fluent written/spoken English language proficiency.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), or Leadership Professional in Ethics & Compliance (LPEC) credential(s).
- Well-developed state-of-the-practice and some state- of-the-art experience developing and/or conducting training.
- Well-developed state-of-the-practice and some state- of-the-art experience in drafting, editing, publishing, interpreting, or enforcing policies, procedures and internal templates.
- Strong ability to handle significantly complex and/or risky technical/compliance issues/problems and investigations.
- Strong knowledge of analytical techniques for investigations and monitoring of program operations.
- Ability to work as a team member and collaborate with others within the department and in other functional groups.
- Organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle fast-paced multi-tasking environment with time-sensitive workloads.
- Ability to resist pressure to compromise corporate values even if pressured to do so.
- Track record of demonstrating integrity, even when inconvenient.
- Ability to think outside the box, while staying within legal and ethical lines.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Up-to-date knowledge of emerging compliance requirements relevant to LBS business, and/or innovative Ethics & Compliance program practices.
- Up-to-date knowledge of, and proficiency in applying and mentoring others to apply, existing compliance requirements relevant to WSP business, and best-practice Ethics & Compliance program practices.
- Advanced verbal and written communications skills to effectively communicate in a clear and concise manner to executives, auditors, lawyers, and non-lawyers.
- Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.
