The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.

Position Summary

The Director's focus is to provide leadership to staff in order to increase operational effectiveness of improving the customer experience and team member experience. This position will implement and communicate programs, best practices, and action plans to leadership and staff that impact the customer and employee experience.

The Director will provide leadership to the Team Member Experience Team. This position will guide, direct, and implement activities for the recognition and celebration of TOBH and OBMG team members.

The Director will provide overall direction for all the Volunteer Services programs at The Outer Banks Hospital and Outer Banks Medical Group. The Director will be responsible for recruitment, retention, placement, training, scheduling, recognition and evaluation of volunteers.

Provides leadership to the Patient Experience Team and is the TOBHI representative in receiving and interpreting patient satisfaction scores. Designs, develops, and implements PFE initiatives/strategies in partnership with the Leaders and PFE team along with other key team members, as identified.

The Director will partner with ECU Health Office of Experience in implementing OE strategies, initiatives, and education/training/salons at The Outer Banks Hospital and Medical Group.

Responsible for the management of compliance and responding to complaints & grievances for The Outer Banks Hospital and Outer Banks Medical Group.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree-or higher- is required in Education, Organizational/Leadership Development or related field or equivalent education and experience.

Master's preferred.

Minimum of five years relevant experience in healthcare. Ability to listen to customer, assess the situation and respond appropriately. Experience with volunteer coordination strongly preferred. High level of experience with written and oral communication.
