Summary/Objective

The Director of Fuels & Forecourt is responsible for management of all aspects of Rutter’s fuels business, along with overseeing the forecourt area. The Director of Fuels & Forecourtwill manage other members of the fuels team and provide leadership in attaining or exceeding strategic gross profit goals related to fuel operations. They will also define department operating plans, strategies and tactics, and identify opportunities to increase market share, improve profitability, contribute to fuel category growth, and meet and anticipate current and future consumer demands.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversight of Fuels team in managing daily fuel inventories, load dispatch, fuel tax returns and SIR analysis.
  • Develop and drive retail fuel pricing, hedging and trading strategies; adjusting plans with changing market conditions to meet or exceed retail fuels gross profit and volume projections.
  • Establish relationships with suppliers and commodity brokers to better manage risk and reduce overall volatility through planned hedging strategies.
  • Negotiate with vendors on bulk, spot and rack purchases.
  • Conduct competitive market research to define and achieve targeted market share in footprint.
  • Integrate fuel operating plans into ongoing company goals and strategies.
  • Develop communication and reporting processes with Executive team to share and measure success.
  • Actively monitor trends and forecast into long and short-range strategic plans for the Fuels Team.
  • Work with Construction, Fuel & IT Maintenance teams on fuel system design and integration to ensure the current infrastructure supports the company vision for fuels, including related technology, processes and procedures.
  • Work with Advertising Team to develop the fuels marketing plan.
  • Responsible for managing company’s fleet program and business development.
  • Responsible for oversight and strategy of company carwash business.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; Master’s degree in Business, or another related field is preferred. Combination of other experience/education considered.
  • 10 years of previous experience working in retail/wholesale fuels industry; including a minimum of 5 years management responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large scale business projects and leading project teams.
