Principal Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director for the CJLL, the Director of Israel Engagement is primarily responsible for developing and implementing programs for the Memphis Jewish community that create a meaningful connection to the State of Israel and its people. Programming will be for staff and community members of all ages and backgrounds. Director of Israel Engagement will also work to provide programs/resources to the other Jewish agencies in the community as requested and agreed upon.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Create and foster a palpable Israel connection in our facilities and programming
  • Collaborate with and be an ongoing program resource to all JCC departments and staff for area ambiance and programming opportunities
  • Plan, develop, and oversee Israel programming related to culture, current events, language, holidays, etc.
  • Plan, develop, and oversee Israeli educational opportunities for staff
  • Maintain a high standard of programming, while identifying, developing and implementing new initiatives and program opportunities for members and our community
  • Teach Hebrew weekly to MJCC Early Childhood classes
  • Responsible for developing and implementing the Morris and Mollye Fogelman Israel week celebration (centered around Yom Haatzmaut) with guidance of Director for the CJLL
  • This person will have a role each summer in the Day Camp including but not limited to supervision of the Tsofim/Israeli scouts
  • Develop and implement programs for Israelis who are living in the Memphis community
  • Work with our Marketing Director to keep an active presence in social media as it relates to Israel

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist in development of and implementation of departmental budget as it relates to Israel programming
  • Attend committee meetings for the CJLL Department

Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the MJCC management team and attend weekly staff meetings
  • Prepare an Israel update moment for weekly management staff meetings (once per month)
  • Where appropriate develop partnerships with other agencies from the Jewish community as well as the greater Memphis community
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested
