The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) currently has an exciting opportunity for a Membership Director to be part of the team!
About BASF
BASF is a nonprofit organization and the oldest voluntary bar association in California. Today, over 7,500 San Francisco lawyers are members of BASF, which prides itself as being one of the most active and innovative local bar associations. Our offices are located in the Financial District. In addition to educational, networking and business development services for its members, BASF provides a variety of legal services to San Francisco residents including our Lawyer Referral and Information Service. In addition, the communications department supports the efforts of the Justice & Diversity Center (including the Homeless Advocacy Project) which is the largest provider of legal services to San Franciscans.
About the Job:
The Membership Director oversees the recruitment and retention of individual members and law firm/corporate sponsor group members. This individual will work with BASF’s Member Benefits department to develop and provide services to BASF members; maintain the membership database, manage dues invoicing; collect data and relevant statistics; conduct data and trend analysis; conduct competitive market studies and analysis; develop strategic action plans for membership recruitment and retention; meet or exceed membership revenue goals; and provide data to BASF departments. The Director is responsible for all Membership operations and ensures alignment of Membership with overall organization strategic and operational goals. The Membership Director reports to the Deputy Executive Director and supervises the Membership Coordinator.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or similar discipline or equivalent experience
- 5-8 years sales or fundraising experience
- Prior experience in a senior membership management role preferred
- Experience in effectively supervising other staff members
Skills and Requirements:
- Strong data and trend analysis and research skills
- Knowledge of database software and information storage and relationships, in order to design best collection, storage and retrieval of information protocols, practices, and procedures
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with keen attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated team player abilities
- Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills
