Under the general direction of the College President, develops communication for external and internal audiences regarding college-wide information. With a secondary, but dual report to the Executive Director of Strategic Enrollment Management and Communications, this position manages Presidential social media and general communication to on and off campus communities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as the designated spokesperson for the organization and its affiliates, if applicable.
- Develops media relations policy and advises faculty, staff and administrators about proper public relations interview techniques before media contact.
- Acts as the Public Information Officer for the Emergency Response Team to draft and deploy communications.
- Prepares written communications to the campus and external communities on behalf of the President.
- Provides social media/photography support for Presidential pages.
- Prepares written communications to the campus and external communities on behalf of the members of the Leadership Team (President's Cabinet).
- Performs duties in the absence of the Executive Director of Strategic Enrollment Management and Public Relations.
- Contributes to plans for institutional communications channels, including public and media relations, and publications of the website and intranet.
- Provides direct and proactive advice, consultation, and assistance to senior leaders, as well as the college community, regarding public information matters, to include providing direct assistance in researching, providing information and developing messages.
- Participates as an active member of the college marketing communications team to create effective communications and public relations campaigns.
- Consults with students, alumni, administrators, faculty, staff and interested community members to constantly improve EvCC communication and outreach activities, channels and tools.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing, or equivalent education and experience.
- Two or more years of experience in public relations, media relations, communications, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing skills, editing skills, and oral communication skills.
- Experience with emergency communications.
- Desire and ability to work cooperatively as part of a creative team.
