About the Role:
Sound Physicians is looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Revenue Cycle department as Director of Revenue Cycle, Anesthesia. This is a challenging role with the potential to make a large impact on the organization.
The RDC is responsible for the analysis of revenue cycle data, developing, planning, organizing and implementing strategies to improve the overall health of receivables and the financial impact to our hospital partners and to Sound Physicians. This position will assist in developing analyses and processes to proactively support the business line and optimize revenue cycle outcomes. This is a dynamic role that will interface with many departments across the organization as well as with our field operators and partners.
Revenue Cycle is responsible for professional billing, vendor management, coding, quality assurance, and provider enrollment, among other activities. This includes, but is not limited to; charge capture, claims submission, accounts receivables, write-offs, denials management, patient financial services, medical records and payer analysis (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Private Pay). This Director role will be a linchpin for Business Development and Field Operations in seeking to understand and utilize real-time data and act as a Strategic Advisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the process and resources to assess, document and implement end to end processes that ensure highly accurate case capture and full reconciliation
- Build repeatable, predictable processes that will scale to meet high level of growth and high volume of client data analyses
- Collaborate with RC Operations teams to ensure department standards of productivity metrics such as charge reconciliation, collection volume and rates, and patient payment SLAs are met. Develop monthly insights into variances
- Ability to dig into data, work cross functionally to develop fully informed views and insights into the drivers behind the data, and present findings clearly and concisely to stakeholders both internally and with hospital partners
- Accurately gather, synthesize, analyze and communicate timely relevant information to support decision making and to develop process improvement strategies
- Working with a team of direct reports, prepare and communicate strategic insights for service line revenue. At the hospital program level, ensure contractual revenue goals and objectives are properly defined, implemented, tracked, and met
- Develop fully informed views and insights into the drivers behind the data, and present findings clearly and concisely
- Enhance and standardize workflow processes throughout the revenue cycle to assist in achieving consistency in maintaining critical success factors as outlined in the company’s key performance metrics.
- Oversee the process to develop revenue projections for all new site anesthesia proposals
- Work collaboratively with Business Development to ensure accurate data is obtained for the revenue projection process
- Support annual budgeting, monthly financial and revenue forecasting
- Develop tools for company operations to enhance their skills in detecting both current and future performance issues
- Prepare narratives, Power Point presentations, graphs and reporting for field operations, clients, finance and revenue cycle
- Both directly and through efforts of direct reports, develop and prepare ad-hoc reports related to the revenue cycle
- As required, handle complex patients’ complaints working in conjunction with billing vendor and Sound’s Director of Patient Engagement

Special Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training Needed to perform this job:
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral, written and persuasive skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and function well in a fast-paced environment
- Strong quantitative skills preferred with proficiency in Excel and Power Point
- Natural intellectual curiosity with strong research skills
- Working knowledge of revenue cycle, healthcare payment models, physician practice management, payer contracting, and managed care models
- Strong background in federal and state laws and requirements relating to healthcare management
Education and Experience:
Education
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related position
Experience
Minimum: 2-4 years of experience in revenue cycle as an analyst and2 years of experience as a manager or director in revenue cycle. Experience in a fast-paced and dynamic organization with specific experience in Anesthesia Medicine professional billing is preferred.
