The position will support and grow existing accounts and develop new accounts for the Business Segment Advanced Food Ingredients custom development & manufacturing services of Evonik’s Health Care Business Line.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for revenue and contribution margin generation at assigned accounts and newly discovered accounts
  • Act as the one face to the customer for the HealthCare Business Segment Advanced Food Ingredients throughout the development and commercial phases. Interact with all levels of management within both Evonik and at the customer.
  • Identify customer opportunities leveraging Evonik’s technology and service portfolio
  • Qualify opportunities with support of Evonik’s experts by linking them with the customer’s experts
  • Advise Evonik’s opportunity prioritization teams on merits of potential projects with respect to ability to expand the technology base and contribute to long term business growth. Prepare offers and project proposals in conjunction with internal technical resources.
  • Negotiate contracts (confidential agreements, supply agreements, service agreements, license agreements, material transfer agreements, quality agreements…) as necessary. Internal support will vary depending on the type of agreements and could include IP, legal support, technical, quality/regulatory and business development groups.
  • Develop short- and long-term forecasts and business plans for the accounts. Prepare marketing promotional programs at the assigned accounts
  • Establish presence with major trade associations and industry forums.
  • Monitor and proactively anticipate new trends in the US Food/Biotech market and develop ideas for potential benefit for Evonik.
  • Active communication: issue call reports and monthly reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain internal databases (CRM, APM,…) and participate in internal meetings as required.
  • Lead cross functional key account teams.
Requirements
  • Must have a degree, ideally in Organic Chemistry or related life science (e.g.: Biotechnologies). PhD or MBA is highly desirable.
  • Desire 3+ years’ experience in an industrial research and development department, or similar experience with chemical/food research and development or formulation development. Business experience in the marketing of custom manufacturing services would be very desirable.
  • Must have a high level of understanding of the food fermentation development and approval processes.
  • Must have 5+ years sales/marketing experience with frequent customer interface. Must have the ability to build and expand relationships with customers.
  • Must possess an established network of contacts in the food industry.
  • Must have led complex negotiations and have a thorough understanding of the legal terms in supply, service, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Must have a willingness to travel, including internationally.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in an international multidisciplinary team and drive complex customized customer projects.
  • Must be able to work on interdisciplinary initiatives to improve the systems of Evonik.
$116,900 - $198,00 per year (salary to be determined by geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
