As a director of development teams, you will be technically involved in understanding the software and services we use to deliver solutions and help set the product and technical vision and roadmap for the products in the years ahead. You will bring key insight and experience that will help the teams grow and delivery quality, rock solid solutions.

Zonar Logs simplifies hours of service (HoS) compliance, so that drivers avoid violations and costly citations, and provide the tools for back-office teams to manage groups of drivers.

Mobile Platform delivers the infrastructure that manages identity on proprietary and open tablets, and connectivity to Zonar’s telematics units, delivering a robust mobile experience that works throughout the transportation system of North America and beyond.

We are looking for an experienced, pragmatic technologist and leader who can inspire multiple teams by defining and evangelizing a clear and compelling set of objectives, then lead the team to execute to those objectives.

The person in this role needs to possess a deep technical acumen - exposure to distributed systems development, high scale data processing and analytics, and experience building out resilient solutions – and the ability to see the whole of Zonar systems as their responsibility along with the core products they own and deliver.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Coach and lead multiple development teams developing cloud native platform services, web and mobile-first application experiences, and native mobile applications.
• Collaborate with Engineering, UX, Product and Program Management to design and communicate platform roadmaps.
• Advocate and direct expectations and metrics on software quality.
• Mentor and develop your direct reports and managers with their professional development and growth.
• Engage in the annual leadership talent review evaluations.
• Challenge and inspire the team to deliver applications motivated by user needs.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM

• 10+ years in management, managing managers across multiple teams
• 5+ years as an engineer, working on distributed systems, mobile applications, big data, data pipelines, and APIs
• 2+ years leading teams to develop high scale solutions
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD services (CircleCI, Jenkins, Gitlab, etc)
• Experience with container orchestration services, e.g. Kubernetes/Docker/Mesos
• Experience running service teams and managing to service level objectives
• Experience delivering solutions in public cloud, e.g. AWS, Azure, or Google
• Experience in mobile development on Android and iOS, e.g. Flutter, Java, Kotlin, Swift
• Exposure to Agile methodologies, e.g Scrum and/or Kanban
• Exposure to/experience with IoT platforms
