Maxar is building an early stage incubation and venture practice using our 3D globe, unique high-resolution imagery and image processing capabilities in order to enable and supercharge growth for startups building geospatially aware products and services. Our pioneering content-for-equity model allows Maxar to strategically partner with innovative companies building for a wide range of use cases with applications across the metaverse, augmented and virtual reality, gaming, financial services, mapping, insurance, and climate, among others.

The Director of Venture, Enterprise Incubator, is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and closing investments in early-stage startups using a content-for-equity model and Maxar’s best in class geospatial assets. As a key member of Incubator leadership, you will build the foundation of a groundbreaking venture practice and bring the power of geospatial data to high growth sectors, defining the future of the metaverse and beyond.

Responsibilities:
  • Source, negotiate, and close content-for-equity investments
  • Hire, develop, and mentor a team of analysts to support full lifecycle deal activity
  • Foster relationships with founders, accelerators, and VCs investing in target sectors, including technology, media, gaming, financial services, and climate
  • Attend industry conferences and sponsored events to showcase Maxar’s data, capabilities, and venture practice to early stage companies and develop investment leads
  • Represent to and achieve buy-in from executive leadership for content-for-equity investments and advocate internally for portfolio companies
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders in legal, finance, and the partnerships team to execute transactions and support ongoing relationship with portfolio companies

Basic Requirements:
  • Citizen of the United States or Permanent Resident
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years related work experience
  • 4+ years in venture capital or growth equity
  • Experience sourcing, negotiating, and closing venture or growth equity investments

Preferred Qualifications:
  • JD or MBA
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and being able to develop clear and thoughtful recommendations at an executive level
  • Excellent existing relationships and network with VCs and startup founders
  • Strong and demonstrated ability to thrive in a cross-functional team environment
  • Comfort in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment
  • Technology industry experience
  • Passion for geospatial technology
Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
$143,000.00 - $238,000.00 annually.
Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
