THE POSITION


Washington County Disability, Aging, and Veteran Services (DAVS) within the Department of Health and Human Services is hiring a Disability and Aging Program Specialist!

The Disability and Aging Program Specialist acts as the “front door” of DAVS and the Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) in Washington County. In this position, you will act as a primary resource related to aging and long-term care. You will frequently interact with the general public, care givers, prospective clients, internal staff, and community partners both in-person and virtually. Some primary duties are:
  • Answers incoming consumer calls for the Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) providing information and referrals to internal and external resources and services
  • Provides Person-Centered Options Counseling (PC-OC) to clients at their own homes or in the office. Options Counseling provides clients with information about their long-term care options to help them make informed choices that best fit their needs.
  • Uses a web-based payment system to pay caregivers for the in-home support they provide to Oregon Project Independence clients.
  • Provides back-up support to the front lobby in the event of absences, vacations, etc.
This position is eligible to work remotely 2-3 days per week.

The ideal candidate for this position has strong interpersonal and customer service skills and experience working with the public. Preferably have a minimum of three years of experience working in a fast-paced, client-facing office environment. They will also have a social service, healthcare, or similar background with demonstrated both written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, they will have a high degree of expertise in and have the ability to learn how to utilize various databases, spreadsheets, and web-based programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • An Associate's Degree in a social service, business administration, or related field; AND One (1) year of work experience in program administration, development, evaluation, or coordination, and /or contract administration; OR
  • Three (3) years of work experience in program administration, development, evaluation, and/or contract administration.
Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities and Specialty Requirements:

  • This position requires the completion of a criminal history check in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Washington County is committed to using a Merit-based System in which recruiting, selecting, and advancing employees is based on their relative knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Selection Process:
1. Week of January 9, 2023: An evaluation of training and experience of submitted application packets will be performed by Human Resources.

2. Week of January 16, 2023: A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel may perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials to include responses to the supplemental questionnaire. This process may take about 2 - 3 weeks depends on the volume of applications we receive.

3. Our goal is to schedule oral panel interviews with candidates that successfully pass the SME Evaluation step as soon as possible.

This is a non-represented position and is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Regular and limited duration full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week and job share employees are eligible for benefits beginning on the first of the month following employment. Job share employees are responsible for 50% of the premium. Part-time regular, variable hour, and temporary positions are not eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits.
