Dispensing Pharmacist Job at Health Partners of Western Ohio
DISPENSING PHARMACIST
This is a full-time position Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with an occasional 12-hour shift to fill in at other sites.
We currently have a Dispensing Pharmacist position at our Old West End Community Health Center in Toledo, Ohio. This individual will work in collaboration with our medical, dental, behavioral health and clinical pharmacy providers to provide integrated services to all patients at this Health Center. The Dispensing Pharmacist will work with patients, providers, and other members of the health care team to provide patients with appropriate and beneficial comprehensive pharmacy services. The Dispensing Pharmacist will serve as the responsible pharmacist for their primary practice location.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes effective and appropriate use of integrated health services at HPWO as part of a “Patient Centered Medical Home” (PCMH) model of care.
- Perform all duties of a pharmacist as legally specified in ORC 4729 and all other local, state, and federal regulations.
- Adheres to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, guidelines, and other State and Federal laws). This also includes reporting to the Board of Directors, Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, supervisor or suggestion box, any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.
- Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, personnel, nursing, medical, and clerical policies and procedures as they pertain to pharmacist duties.
- Maintains knowledge of loss prevention techniques and ensures security of the pharmacy and inventory at all times.
- Maintains an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields related to job responsibilities and integrates them into practice.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Assists in training new employees.
- Supervises pharmacy technicians and patient advocates while on duty in dispensing department.
- Perform Inventory management including but not limited to placing orders, auditing supplies, updating pricing, adjusting on hand levels of stock, verifying invoices
- Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy and current Pharmacy License in the State of Ohio.
- Experience in a supervisory position preferred
- Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program; or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Current License in good standing with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy
- Ability to act as a preceptor for pharmacy students and/or pharmacy residents preferred.
- Ability to serve in the role of the responsible pharmacist.
- Professional demeanor

- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of insurance and third-party payment systems preferred.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Computer experience.
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse group of people.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours as required by position.
